Good for when the power goes
I bought these primarily as emergency lighting when the power goes out. Motion sensitive in low light I just make a move and they light up, giving just enough light see me through the outage.

Excellent product!
Exactly what I needed. I had the larger white Mr beams previously that took the D batteries. The batteries in those lasted ages, probably 2 years or more, even after being set off several times a day. Unfortunately they eventually filled with water after 4 years usage and no longer worked. It may not be that the seals failed. It may be that I never tightened them enough when changing batteries. May be human error for failure. So this time I ordered these smaller ones that take the C batteries. These appear to be just as bright as the last ones although they are much smaller. As soon as they detect someone, they switch on and light up the whole area and after a while they go off again. I purchased the black ones this time so they are more discreet but just so you know they are not black, more of a very dark green. These ones light up individually as they each detect movement. The other Mr Beams I used to have were networked. So if one light detected movement, it told all the others wirelessly to light up. I like these just as much though. As for Amazon service, they arrived a day late. They were showing as delivered but were not at my house. I phoned amazon, they told me they were showing delivered but had probably not been sent yet. I told them I heard a van door open and close outside and my echo told me they had been delivered. Amazon told me to wait 3 more days for the delivery then file a claim if they did not turn up and also gave me £5 account credit for the trouble. They were very helpful. Later the same day, I was reversing my car into my driveway and I noticed an amazon package on my neighbours doorstep. I knocked on the door, they checked the package and it was mine.

Worked well till end of September
Very good to start with but put in new batteries and they won't turn off and one light is not as strong as the other! What have I done wrong?

So good I bought more
My Mum has failing eyesight and with a house on a hill she was struggling up-and-down the garden at night because the many steps. A torch helped but having to keep move it meant she needed to make sure she was properly on before attempting another so I decided to see if I could find some lights that might help. After researching solar ones (worried batteries would run out fairly quickly due to cold temps) and getting an electrician in to hard wire some I decided to give these a go to give me more of an idea what I might want. They have worked so well I have actually bought more for some of the other steps and to use in some of the cupboards she has indoors. They are just amazing. The sensor on them covers a great area and all steps are fully lit before she even makes it to them and so far we are now in the 4th month still on the first set of batteries even though we've had constant temperatures below zero since they went out which shows how well they are sealed/insulated. The ones in the cupboard (I didn't photograph due to the amount of junk in there) come on as soon as the door is opened and bath the whole area under-the-stairs in light. They are just perfect.

Unpredictable quality
I’ve had a few of these Mr Beams lights over the years. Some last for ages and are totally reliable, others just inexplicably pack up after two or three months. Would definitely recommend shelling out for the extended guarantee because of this. When they’re good they’re really good 👍

Excellent as always, Mr Beams!
I've used to larger Mr Beams lights (twin LED) and these are almost as bright, but in a more compact case.To install the batteries, you need to twist off the front end, leaving the bracket and case assembly. This means you can change batteries when it's mounted in position, without having to dismantle anything. The clip is a bit fiddly. Press the release tab and it hinges out, ready for 3xC batteries. When putting the clip back you may need to press the battery near the hinges in a bit, so it all goes together easily. This is where you realize you've inserted the batteries in a dark room, and the light comes on to blind you!To put the batteries back in the case, just align the little indicators together and twist back in. If it doesn't work you may have it upside down, so just turn 180 degrees and try again. The lights will only activate when it's dark and they detect infra-red motion. They come on straight away and stay on for 30 seconds. If you keep moving while they are on, they will stay on until no movement has been detected for 30 seconds. They work best (as all PIR sensors) when you move across the sensors view. Moving towards the light head-on isn't always as sensitive, but does work. The light is very bright (as bright as a good hand torch) and has a fairly wide beam. Ideal for lighting your way around where it's pointing. The bracket is probably the weakest area of the light. There's a knob on the side to tighten up the light to stay where you point it, and if fully removed allows the light to come out of the bracket, with the opposite side in a 'keyhole' shaped hole. This is pretty tight, so not easy to do without fear of breaking the bracket. Fortunately the bracket has a hole for screw mounting permanently, and another 'keyhole' shaped hole for fitting a screw and then sliding the light onto it. With the latter you don't need to remove the light from the bracket. In all and excellent light, that with daily use lasts around 2-3 months at least. I've found the cold kills the batteries off faster than being used, so in the winter months may not last as long. Rechargeable batteries will save money in the long run.As a side note, I've found that the sensor has quite a wide field of view, and sometimes gets triggered by things you don't want it to. For example, I've used it by a field gate to see the lock. If the horses put their head over the fence, it triggered the sensor. To remedy it, a small blinker if duct tape ensured it only triggered when someone out of the field moved past. I couldn't move the light as it then wouldn't have pointed at the gate.
