WORKS GREAT wish they had these 20 years ago. works as a collar and dog walking training collar on leach all in one..
This is working great for my Mastiff puppy (she will grow up to be about 130 pounds or so) this goes for smaller dogs too..you need to start the leach training soon. this will work on older dogs too I have used this on some rescues that I have found.it always helps to find dogs homes if the dog can walk on a leash already..some people think the chock collar is cruel but they will learn fast to walk on the leach this way and not pull you. especially if your dog is a large breed. I have been a vet tech for years. and I have to tell you if your dog is not leach trained the cruel part is when you cant take your dog for walks or take them anywhere because they are pulling you all over the place, and it is dangerous for them too, they can pull and you loose the leash and they run into the street or run to other dogs or pull you down onto the pavement.. dogs should not just end up stuck in the house or in the yard all of their lives .a little corrective chocker discipline, I use the pull back on the leach when they are pulling and a firm NO PULLING (you are the pack leader AKA the BOSS training will make a great dog.. OH AND DONT FORGET GIVE THEM LOTS OF LOVE..

The concept is great, and I was hoping it would work for my runner! However, the success of this collar depends largely on how sneaky your dog is. For a while it was working great, she would pull while in front of me and it would tighten, great. But then when we stop, it loosens up a little bit and she can get out. Basically my dog realized if she wanted to get out of it she had to turn around and back out. Maybe I didn't have it tight enough but I wanted to make sure it was still comfortable for her. I think it would be great for big dogs where you need more control, but little wiggly, sneaky houdini dogs like mine it just didn't work for.

It broke
Our 65 lb Bernese puppy pulled and the Guardian Gear Martingale Adjustable Choke-Style Dog Collar broke. She was about 6/10 of a mile from home and my husband couldn't get her to come. She ran home crossing 2 streets. So scary for us but as soon as my husband called she was at the kitchen door. Collars should not break. The large o ring in the collar opened up allowing it to come off. Poor quality metal

Love the width, weight, chain, sturdiness
I have English Bulldogs with big fat necks, necks bigger than there heads, so regular collars do not work. I like these because of the chain, the other martingales, just do not release quick enough, they may release quick 10 times, but it is always when your not looking that they do not. With bulldogs, or any dogs, that they release immediately, you do not want to keep choking your dog. Also because they big necks, they are always wide collars, I like that these are nice and light, but sturdy enough. Again for bulldogs or any dog that the thick collars are not cutting in to them if left on while they are relaxing. So I love the size, width, chain, sturdiness and weight of these collars. Just wish they made them with more colors, patterns, more decorative, I look at the other collars and wish I could use them, that said I like the pink, turquoise and lavender. Oh Yea, I love the price, have bought lots of them for my dogs and as gifts, plan on buying more, I do not leave them on all the time and hate spending time looking for them,

I hate using any form of choke collar and generally do not approve of them. I have used this collar as a temporary measure to get a rescue under control until a bond of trust between us developed so that she can be properly train. The Martindale Collar provides safety to the dog to not allow the choking mechanism to be severe. It is more of a warning system than a cruel punishment system. I will use it occasionally when I take her into situations that I know will trigger her fear response, but generally will not use it as a regular way to "control" a dog. She wears a harness most of the time and that works just fine and I also can make kind, but definite correction with her in a harness. This item is great for temporary training and certain trigger-point situations, but should not be used as a training method on a regular basis. For beginning training only - not a regular walking device. Get the dog trained with professional help if you need to use this beyond basic training.

Good training collar
I got this collar when I started taking my dog to training and the trainer recommended it. I had previously had a regular Martingale-type collar on her, but he recommended the chain martingale for the following reasons:1. it has the same tightening/pinch effect that a regular martingale collar does, except it's fast to react to your correction2. when you make the correction via tightening the leash and therefore tightening the collar, the chain makes a noise. Eventually, the dog learns that the noise is associated with a correction, and instead of having to actually pop the leash, now all you have to do is jingle the collar. This has worked out well for my dog. The collar is very adjustable, so I'd say that if in doubt, get a smaller size. The effect is lost if the chain is too loose. For reference, I got my 55-lb pit a medium.

This is an excellent quick on / off collar for taking a dog out for whittles, or training for dogs that pull like mules on leash
I was a little reluctant to use this collar. I bought it to train a puppy who was pulling like a mule. However, I never ended up using it on the puppy, I instead use it on my 12 year old dog to take her outside for quick whittles, rather than putting on the full harness. This collar is real quality. It also goes on and off really fast (a great bonus). When I first put it on my dog, she was real careful not to pull at the very slightest, as she didn't like (and wasn't used to) any pressure at all around her neck. Now, this was interesting because there was almost no pressure applied to her neck, she was being so careful about it.So now I use it just to take her out for the quick one minute bathroom trip outside. I don't put any pressure on her, and she's so careful with it. I can only imagine how quickly it would tune up the mule pulling puppy, but my neighbor doesn't want me to use it (their loss, my gain).

Semi-choke collar
The dog loves it - which is more important! - because most of the time it's loose. Definitely a good buy.

DO NOT BUY. Potential Harmful chemicals on the chain.
Do not buy this product. It looks very nice but very poor quality. Shortly after a month, Medal chain start to fade in color and became black. And there is a black stain on my dog’s fur and skin. I am quite concerned what they used to make the medal chain shinny. Seller Is trying to make the product looked appealing by adding potential harmful chemicals on it? I was glad my dog was white in color otherwise i will never find out!

read the reviews before i ordered this for our med sized dog that weighs in at 55 lbs. with a neck span of 18"when i received the package i was a bit disappointed, the collar nylon part was quite thin..but we gave it ago just the sameand sure enough he had snapped the chain in no time flat..this collar is not strong enough for our Australian Shepard, nor is it thick enough..so i wont buy this again..Amazon is great! they are taking this back and i am getting a full refund..so i will give kudos to them..for honoringthis purchase..return.Lynda P

13-18" Small Bluebird Martingale for Rough Collie
I bought this collar for my 5 month old Rough Collie. For sizing, at 5 months old he wears it at almost the smallest size. Collies have flat heads which allows them to get out of any collar that isn't a martingale. He cannot get out of this collar and if it's sized properly it does not choke him. The collar holds him when he pulls, he is 45 lbs. The quality is good and I'm not concerned about the collar breaking. The colour is true to the picture as well (bluebird).I recommend this. But you must make sure that you size it properly or your dog with either get out of it or choke.
