Oil Painting with the Masters: Essential Techniques from Today's Top Artists

I bought the Kindle edition of this book and it was a delight to first scroll through the beautiful works of art by some of my favorite painters: Kevin Macpherson, Marc Hanson, Laurie Kersey. Not only that, but they offer their observations and advise on painting in their illustrated demonstrations. The book is not just inspirational, but helpful to artists looking to hone their skills. This will be a book that I will refer back to. I highly recommend adding this book to your artist reference library, whether it's the physical book or the beautiful Kindle edition. You won't be disappointed.

I do so appreciate the advice of these masters. The concept of the book was wonderful to me as a beginner. I've just finished reading it for a second time, it's going to make a great reference.

The pictures are nice, but there is very little text. I bought this book thinking it would be filled with instructions and advice, but it fell sorely short.Additionally, while the modern artists are fine, the true "masters" are painters from hundreds of years ago who are no longer alive today. If the point of this book was to have living people give commentary, that's fine. I just wish there had been more. I found very little in the way commentary that could not have been better explained using the real old masters.It's a coffee table book, but not helpful for a serious student.

I'm a big fan of Camille Przewodek's colorist houses, but when I tried to find a book written by her, I came up empty. Finally, I discovered this book which has an entire chapter devoted to her along with a demonstration. Invaluable! Also pleased that Kevin MacPherson is included.

Today's masters all seem to have the same style, at least according to this book! It was fine - but I would have liked to see more styles presented.

This book is a gem. Packed full of useful information from many popular landscape oil painters, it's got all kinds of exciting tips to help you improve your paintings. I'd place this at the top in importance compared to most other books on this subject.

Definitely not the formulaic "how-to" paint something book with the supply chapter first, the studio set-up requirements, and then the meat of the book. This is a book of demos and it's one of the most enjoyable painting books I've ever purchased.

This is a well presented book, the photographs of the paintings are of very high quality. The 10 artists who took part in the making of this book presented different themes, e.g. composition, tone , light form etc. A very enjoyable and instructional book.

This book is a delight. Informative and generous words from the artists. Quotations are lovely. thank you all.
