Bestop 5260201 Tailgate Bar for 1997-2006 Wrangler - Trektop Classic Soft Top Only, Black

I have a 1999 Jeep, Wrangler, TJ and this fit perfectly. If you don’t see it above, it did come with the new hardware that you can install on your jeep, so it is a perfect fit. Highly recommended.

We used the screws already used on our jeep to install the brackets. Went right it, bar snapped in no problem and immediately kept water out! We live in Oregon so it’s keeping out a lot of rain!

I've owned two TJs and for some reason the soft-top that came on my second one never came with this tailgate bar. Also, for some reason, I didn't bother to change it until three years later. Maybe cause I prefer to spend every dollar on my Jeep on more fun stuff. In case you're wondering the previous owner had put on a cheap metal bar, the kind you find as like a cheap curtain bar or something (you'd know what it is if I showed you). In any case, that thing was literally bent out of shape, but retained enough rigidity to prevent the back window from flapping about, but not at all keeping it secure or waterproof...Well I finally bought this bar and it works perfectly. Which makes sense, after all Bestop is the OE manufacturer for soft-tops for the Jeep brand to this day. Didn't use the new brackets yet (why not use something nice and shiny) but they are identical to the ones that have been on this TJ since it left Toledo in 2000.Coming from not having a tailgate bar at all, this is certainly a nice improvement. No water ingress! The windows sits normally! I don't know why I didn't do it before, I feel much better that it's there now and it feels much cleaner (yes, I like to keep my Jeep clean as much of a struggle as that is).

I bought this to replace the original that came with my jeep. It was somehow lost on a camping trip. This was delivered the next day by early afternoon and even had the brackets for the back door. I didnt need those but was impressed they were also part of the deal! It fit perfect and works as good or better than my original. I was very pleased with my purchase and surprised how low the price was compared to other sellers. I was very happy with my purchase and would buy through this seller again in a heartbeat!

Wow I bought this product to replace the one on my 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ and it fit perfectly. I was able to use my existing plates. I would definitely recommend it.

This bar is great but they come with sheet metal screws so if the body is damaged at all the hinges won't tighten. It would be wise to buy machine screws and wing nuts for the brackets. Also, consider adding a little weather stripping to offset the bracket so everything fits tighter if you have an older skin that has stretched. The bar is awesome though, great product.

This product is a must have if you live on a gravel road. It stops all the dust from coming in the back window. When I replaced my top I didn't know that I was missing this piece until I read the instructions. After ordering new piece and installing it, I now understand why I couldn't keep the dust from coming in through the back window. Very easy installation !

Used it to attach my cargo net and it worked perfectly. Seems like good quality and has nice weather seal.

Ordered this for a 2006 TJ. Easy installation a great fit.

I didn't like it because they were recommending drilling holes for the brackets to hold the bar in place. Other items come with clips on brackets Which eliminates drilling.
