I have several glands I use for both power wires and ethernet cables. Its so hard sometimes to find a gland that fits something thicker than sheet metal. This gland will easily fit material 1/8" think and probably thicker up to I'd say maybe 3/16" thick pushing 1/4" will probably start to interfere and potentially make it not seal well. I have not had them outside long so I can't say anything yet for longevity, but the do seem to work well. Bonus they can be used not only as a gland to go inside a box and keep that waterproof, but they can also be used just sitting somewhere to join two cables together and keep that connection waterproof. The only dislike I have is the dust cover on this is not rated at the same IP waterproof rating. It does NOT have a rubber seal! It however does appear to make a relatively rainproof connection with the dust cover on, but its definitely not the same level as having a cable installed. If submerged the waterproof passthrough connector is NOT waterproof. The waterproofing comes from the red seals! You'd pretty much have to be submerged before water started to get in without the seals. So if you're only concerned about rain this shouldn't be much of an issue.

The connector is well made, and looks quite secure and work great. My weather-exposed ethernet cables are still working after the last heavy rain. My only gripe is that these are a bit longer than I'd like (they stand out because of it).

Installed them to repair a buried CAT 6 cable (cable was certified as outdoor/buriable) Signal started degrading over 6 week period and then finally shorted. I had used two of these - one had totally corroded out, the other showed signs of water penetration. I can't be sure but it looks like the main connection O-rings failed, not the cable collar rubber seals. Almost like they never seated. I will give it 3 stars only because I put it under extreme conditions (ground that may be moist for extended periods) and might work better as an outdoor splice along an incidentally wet area.

I bought this to connect to an outdoor cat6 cable I accidentally cut. I crimped on new RJ-45 connectors and used this product to connect back up the wire, and I have full functionality again and the connectors are very well made and keep the weather out.

WORKS WEL! A bit big, but it really does the job.

Product is as described. Maybe not waterproof but water resistant. IP67 will protect from rain. Works great!

Worked as expected for about 6 months or so. Then my upload speeds dropped about 75%. I don't live in an area where the weather is particularly extreme. I used brand new shielded cat 7 cables, not junk. Found two of them damp inside one of these despite there being an adequate seal.
