It looks great under my small dog’s bowls and protects my wood floor from damage.

I specifically bought this mat because my cat has a nutty obsession with pushing around the water bowl to get the water to have some movement before she drinks. It is funny to watch but a pain to clean up. Our tried and true method is basically placing the water bowl inside of a round beer serving tray with about a 1 inch lip. It would catch the water when spilled and prevent it from ever hitting the floor. I thought having a nice mat like this would look a little nicer in our kitchen, so we gave it a try. However after about 2 weeks of giving the mat a chance we had to give up. It actually held up very well considering my cat's weirdo water knocking habit, but when she realized she could now give the bowl a really good unfettered push now that her round tray was gone, it all went downhill. The mat would get super saturated, and when lifted it did leak water from underneath. But I washed the mat (super easy to wash, cold water delicate and then a low temp dry) and happily regifted it to my brother who has an adult dog and a 7 month old puppy. He now has it under his water and food bowls to catch errant splashes, and I think that is what this mat is really meant for. So if you don't have a weirdo OCD pet like me, this mat is for you.

This works and it definitely is absorbent. First night after placing it under food and water my girls pawed at it and dumped their water out...it absorbed every bit of it. It was much thinner then what I thought it, was so the girls are able to paw it up over food and water...but at least it absorbs well and only have the food mess to clean up. I purchased this to try and contain the mess they make when eating...but it don't really contain food but as I said it is great for the water dumps. 4 star rating is due to the thinness of mat and lack of the ridge I thought was part of binding to help contain food. The binding is flat and dose not keep food spills on mat.

Great for my pet bowl without it moving

Over the summer I adopted a sweet 5 year old pug. She was my first dog (ever!) and I was trying to think of everything I would need. Whoa! Was it a lot. I wanted to spend money on the really important stuff that would get a lot of use (like a good leash) and save on things less important.This mat was one of my money saving choices. And several months later I'm quite satisfied. It's not fancy but it keeps the floor clean, washes well with my towel load, and stays in place.It's not fancy but it seems durable, affordable and does the job.I would say that if you had very large dog fowls, I'm not sure 2 of them would fit on this mat. But for my 23lb dog's small bowls, it's more than enough space.

My cats splash water everywhere when they drink out of their bowl, and this does a good job of protecting my wood floors (and keeping mine and their feet dry). It's also cute, soft, and my cats aren't weirded out by it (I've had some cats be weirded out by plastic mats and refuse to use them). It prevents spills like a plastic mat with a rim would, but by absorbing the water instead; meanwhile the rubberized backing keeps the water from getting through to the floor.It came out of the washing machine and dryer just fine (cold water and low heat, normal cycles for both). No shrinkage, cracks, or weird shape.My only complaint is that it smelled a little when it first arrived, but the smell aired out quickly.

I purchased this mat for my dog’s water and food bowls. While they do fit on the mat there is barely any mat left. The bowls I use for my dog are stainless steel and since they don’t hasve the rubber coating on the bottom they slide off if this mat fairly easily. It still serves its purpose but I would be happier if it was just a little bigger.

My dog is a very messy drinker, so I needed something to keep my floor from always being wet. When I first received this, I thought it was a little small and she would still drip water everywhere, but it's actually a perfect size and absorbs a ton of water. Not only does it absorb, but it also dries quickly, so I don't have something wet sitting on my floors all the time. This mat works well for my messy pup.
