Nice mat
I had one of these mats for many years. Finally, had to purchase a new one since my puppy chewed up the old one. The replacement mat is made thinner and does not seem as durable. Still works well.

A Pet Food Place Mat that Really Works!
When I first began my search for a mat to put our dog bowls on, I had a lot of very specific "requirements." It had to be the right color (green or pink preferably), the right size, and the right shape (bone or heart-shaped). Aesthetics aside, we actually needed it to contain the mess from all the dog's splashing, slobbering fun. We've purchased all sorts of mats, from ones at the dollar store to more expensive ones at brick and mortar stores in our area. They all ended up being tossed away. I reluctantly purchased this mat based on the many good reviews. Who cares if it wasn't a pink, heart-shaped one? I could no longer sacrifice function for form. After receiving it, I set it up and let the dog do her thing. It's only been two weeks, but I'm glad to report no nasty mildew smells (that you get with those fabric-based mats). Also, the dog's food and water messes are finally contained (neatly on the plastic mat).Another reviewer mentioned the ease of cleaning; we can take the mat and the bowls and clean them all in the shower, and then we can just wipe the mat dry. This mat really does work for us, and I'm happy that our search is over. For those who are concerned about the lack of cute, it's really not that bad. The color is a neutral beige/tan, and it's shaped like a bone. (At least I got one thing I wanted.)

Could be Better but a great deal for $9 price tag.
I bought this because my dog constantly makes a large mess surrounding his dishes. I envisioned this being more of a hardened rubber similar to that of a winter shoe mat. Instead it is a very soft pliable rubber more along the lines of an extremley thin silicone icing spatula. With normal wear and tear (including your dog stepping on the lip) the lip will lose its shap and become a flat mat. This is the reason I am giving it a four. It has a pattern on the top of a dog and a bowl which is cute but you won't really see it with the food & water dishes on it. However, the rubber stays put on hard surfaces - absolutely no movement which is a plus on hardwood or tile.

Perfect for my needs.
I purchased this item to use as a feeding mat for my outdoor cats so their food doesn't fall through cracks in the boards of the porch. It stays in place outside and easily feeds my 7 outdoor cats. Would definitely recommend!!

Keeps dog area mess in small area
We like the rig that keeps spills near the bowl and not all over the floor. Wish that the placemat would have been made from sturdier material.

Great food mat!
Sturdy and durable and able to withstand the mess associated with a puppy. Holds up and keeps liquid on mat. Easy to clean with a simple wipe.

Best out there
I just purchased my second mat, not that i really needed to, but the old one was just getting a little ragged looking after about 8 years. I keep my dogs watering system on the mat and it has saved my floors from certain ruin. I have Golden retrievers who know how to drink, but every once in a while I will watch my nieces chocolate lab who drinks from the bottom of the dish. He comes up from the dish and walks away with the water still gushing from his mouth. If it were not for the water proof mat with its outside rim, I would have approximately 1 quart of water a day left on my floor. I only wish that the mat was just a little deeper to make carrying it to dump a little easier.

Nice mat for the pets
Nice mat. A little bit of a pain to clean. Food gets stuck in the design so you do have to scrub it a little in the sink. Sometimes I just want to wipe it while it's on the floor but it won't come clean that way. Also, it's a soft flexible plastic so you can't lift it up with the food and water bowls on it. Have to make three trips to pick everything up.

Keeps my floors clean(ish)!
There is a reason why this mat has five star reviews all the way, it accommodates a large dog food and water dish, it cleans up and dries quickly and it is priced less and of better quality than any other products we have used that were similar. We have two dogs - a Lab and a German Shepherd - who have to be separated when they eat (our Lab eats faster and goes for her sister's food before she has a chance to finish) so we have to have two 'dining' areas and as such two mats but they make life easier as I just rinse them off in the sink and wipe them dry instead of attempting to keep the areas around their dishes clean. As anyone with dogs in their home knows, attempting to keep anything clean is essentially a futile endeavor (but so worth it!!) but this helps me keep my place looking slightly less like it is overrun by two lovable fur covered tornados.

Great Quality Food & Water Mat!
I was expecting it to be a little bigger and a little more brown. The dimensions I imagine are hard to gage due to the shape. And the color resembles more to a clay or darker grayish dried mud.Otherwise, it's great a quality mat and the lip is perfect for keeping spilled over food or drops of water contained. 2 bowls fit snuggly on the mat, a bigger size with 2 inches extra all the way around would have made this perfect.I would purchase a bigger mat if I had to do it again.

Great purchase
Definitely bigger than expected (should've paid better attention to the product description) but it works well for our needs.Lots of space for a food and water bowls and still enough space left over for the dog (small dog) to chew his bones on, instead of chewing the bones on the hardwood floor.Very flexible and durable so it's fine if you step over "the corners" barefooted. Nobody hurt and nothing broken. Also very easy to clean.
