Excellent service. External dvd cd rom drive is exactly as described. Just plug it into the usb port in my pc and was able to watch movies. The cd drive was shipped fast too. Great seller.

I could barely get the thing to work. I successfully burned one disc and even after a few playings it ceased to function properly. I could never get it to burn another disc. I returned it and bought one at the Apple store for twice the money but at least it has worked so far with no frustration

First impression - I was a bit worried because when I opened the box, it looked like crumbled packing foam fell out. It was a very small amount (would fill a thimble), so I thought it was strange because there was no packing foam otherwise. Then I saw about 5 pieces lodged in the entrance to the DVD slot. "Uh Oh" I thought. I used a compressed air duster and but some of it was stuck to the slot. Then I realized it was probably glue that squeezed out after parts were put together during assembly (my wild guess). Anyhow, I was able to scrape enough of it off with a toothpick so that it didn’t interfere with a DVD. The drive otherwise looked great. Very slim and nice looking. There is no large logo across the top of it like the promotional pictures. Thank you Novapolt because I dislike large logos on pretty much anything.Okay, so then the moment of truth… I plugged it into my MacBook Pro retina (late 2013) and it totally worked! I watched about 10 minutes of a movie and I burned a CD. The drive has a very similar color and finish to the MacBook, so the whole setup looked great. Everything worked smoothly.Next I tried it with my Surface 2. I could not get it to work this time. Every time I put a disc in, it immediately spit it out. I tried different DVD’s, plugging it in before starting up the Surface, whatever I could think of. But nothing worked. This is a bummer because I got the Surface because of the USB port. This was the first time I plugged something in and it didn’t work.Now I was worried that it might be broken, but when I plugged it back into my MacBook, it again worked flawlessly. It seems that this was designed more for Macbooks since it matches perfectly. If you have a PC, you might just want to proceed with caution.For me, this product serves my needs perfectly. With so many media choices (Netflix, youtube, etc.), I just wanted an option for watching DVD’s. It’s nice to have options. :) I don’t really plan on using it to burn DVD/CDs very often, but its nice to have that option too. I own a newer MacBook Pro and the newer models do not included a CD ROM on the laptop so I was able to back up all my important data which is a life saver when my laptop crashed and I did not have it backed up. Thisis my new favorite thing! I have had a computer without a CD drive for years and years now, and i accepted I just wasn't able to watch DVDs or burn CDs anymore. But not anymore! I am loving this. I have CDs I can use in my car now without using up data on my phone. And I am able to watch my old DVDs again. I think this works great! I haven't had any issues with it so far.
