Kolaches - Amazing & Easy!

Finally a recipe that tastes like my grandmas!
For years I've been trying to make a kolache recipe that remind me of my grandma's. My great grandparents are from Bohemia and it's amazing that a tradition or recipe can be lost if its not passed down to the next generation. When my mom fell ill with brain cancer, I tried to recreate a kolache recipe not from this book. It looked like a kolache taste similar to one but it just wasn't right. For a while I've had this book in my wishlist and I wish I had bought it before my mother passed so I can make her these kolaches. They taste just like my grandmothers. I love that I stumbled upon this book (alsothe tutorials videos). There are many different recipes in this book, the first one starts with her refrigerated overnight recipe. Believe me, it's a blessing to have this done beforehand since it can be a long process to make lovely desserts. There is a few recipes for the filling and toppings. I think it's also pretty neat that she included some of her family history and the book. Dorothy Palmer really put herself in this book when she wrote it.If you've been searching for a kolache recipe or have wanted to learn how to make something that your grandparents had made, this is a must buy.Thank You Dorothy Palmer for taking the time out and passing down your family tradition along with the tutorial videos. You make these look easy to make.

Texas Czech kolaches like I remember!
I live in Houston, where bakeries and donut shops sell klobasneks as kolaches. When you do find one with fruit filling, it's more of a danish. I had the great fortune to grow up next door to a lovely Czech lady who would share a tray of kolaches with us any time she was baking a batch for her church. Her recipe was similar to the excellent kolaches you can find in Schulenberg and Hilje. I have looked at recipes over the years, but never took a shot at baking them because I didn't want to spend a lot of time on a recipe that isn't the Texas Czech kolache I grew up with. I came across this book and noticed the photos looked like what I wanted, so I gave it a try. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! A very tender, buttery bread. I wasn't sure I would get the dough right, so I decided to save some trouble by using apricot and cherry preserves. Next time I'll make my fillings from scratch now that I know I have found the holy grail of kolache recipes!

Fruit Only
Good book but they only cover fruit filling. I love the ones with sausage or pork inside.

The real deal
My husband's mother made woooonderful kolaches. The video reminds me of her making them. We bought several books for gifts because everyone wants to know how to make them. I also bought the kindle version so I can teach my other 3 grandkids how to make them by using the step by step video. One granddaughter has already learned. Absolutely worth the price!

I received my book this afternoon. It arrived late, but it is as described and I think it will be a big help with my Kolache making. Very easy to read and follow. Good photos and recipes.

This is a great book and it arrived in excellent condition
This is a great book and it arrived in excellent condition, brand new. It provides U-tube links to watch the author make and bake the kolaches. I bought it as a gift for my sister who was raised by our maternal Grandmother eating these delicious kolaches. I couldn't think of a better gift to thank my sister for her kindness. It will bring back many wonderful memories for both of us.

They go stale very quickly so if you make a lot you should freeze some.
Very easy to make and they were very good

Choices
Good choice of different recipes so I can try them out to find the ones I remember eating. Ingredients have to be halved otherwise too much dough. Not feeding an army.
