The Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup, and a Spool of Thread

We read this book during summer break and at the time my son was only four but he loved it! My daughter was 6 and loved this book as well. It's a wonderful story to read with the whole family. I love the vocabulary questions for the reader. I would recommend this to all families as summer reading to keep up with school skills.

I've had my first copy of Despereaux ever since elementary school (20 years ago!) and I've read it over and over again. Because of this, it's gotten very worn. With the 20th anniversary I figured it was time for a replacement, and DiCamillo delivers once again, with her signature to prove the authenticity and love!The original story of Despereaux, Pea, Roscuro and Mig is still as beautiful as ever, and the new story at the end of the book was a surprise and delight to read. I won't go into spoilers, but it made me happy and very curious and I hope to see even more stories set in this world of mice, soup, and princesses.

Wirklich, eine Geschichte, die alles hat, was eine gute Geschichte braucht: Spannung, Trauer, Liebe, Freude, Angst. Ich habe das Buch auf Empfehlung der Youtuberin The Cottage Fairy (die eine hohe Affinität zu Büchern hat) gekauft. Das Buch ist wohl für Kinder, ich finde es aber in vielen Twists so tiefsinnig, dass ich es auch für Erwachsene unbedingt empfehlen würde. Der Erzählstil ist sehr angenehm - die Autorin spricht den Leser immer wieder sehr nett an und das Englisch ist m.E.in jeder Hinsicht gut bewältigbar.
