How is this "junior" version different from regular Scrabble? Will older kids be bored?

what age level is the game for

One side of the board is very simple and any child who knows his/her alphabet can easily "play". The other side of the board requires the child to create his/her own words, spell them properly and, position them on the board correctly. I would say a strong age 7+ reader can certainly handle this. For more reluctant or less skilled readers, this game will prove frustrating and I would say age 8-9+.

How does the new version of the Scrabble Junior game differ from the older versionn (other than being less than half the price, of course)?

Dont know .in older version letters slipped around the board too easily

are the tiles cardboard or like the original game what are the tiles made of?

The tiles are a stiff cardboard. One side of the game board plays like regular Scrabble. The other side has preprinted words with pictures where we play an altered version with our 3-year-old grand daughter. We all draw 7 tiles, face up, then take turns matching our letters to the board. We draw letters from the pile to keep 7 in our "hand." We try to make the words on the board. Funny how she always seems to make more words then we do!
