So. Cute.
I’ve been wanting to read this book forever and yes, it’s taken me so long to get round to reading it that, although I didn’t know the storyline, I knew who Simon and Baz were and their relationship.I really liked this book, okay. I’m not sure I can say I loved it but I think it’s completely adorable and I certainly did love Simon and Baz and their relationship. Also, Simon’s friendship with Penny was the loveliest thing! They were just so loyal to each other and you could just feel the love they had for each other every time they were together. One of the nicest friendships I’ve read in a book.As far as the story goes plot-wise, I felt some of it was a little predictable. Like the villain at the end and the truth of Simon’s parentage. However, it didn’t make the book any less enjoyable.Something else that niggled at me were the spells. I understand they had to be words that were always relevant to the culture or time period, that got stuck in people’s heads, but I just found them quite silly and couldn’t take it seriously when people were casting them! But overall, I thought Carry On was just the cutest thing. Full of humour and that satisfaction you get when two characters you want together finally get together. Ugh, so satisfying.Summary of pros and cons:+ Simon Snow: constantly hungry magician, brave, loyal, a man of his word.+ Baz: Beautiful, brooding, snarky vampire desperately in love with Simon.+ Penny: Simon’s best friend, powerful, funny, as loyal to her best friend as he is to her.+ Simon & Baz: a relationship I’ll be shipping endlessly. I LOVE THEM.- The spells: I just couldn’t take them seriously but maybe that was the point?- Agatha: boo Agatha, didn’t like her at all.- Predictable: only a few things and it didn’t make the story any less enjoyable (so only a small con on that part).Do I recommend? Absolutely.

One of my favourite books
I have read other works by Rainbow Rowell but unfortunately her usual work isn't my cup of tea. The Simon Snow trilogy, on the other hand, are fantastic. A brilliant representation of LGBTQ+ characters with a fun story and a great love story along with it. I have actually read all three books already but having given away my original copy of this book I craved a copy that had Simon and Baz in the style of the sequels on the cover and so I bought this copy, I'm currently rereading it.

2 New Items, Same Listed Condition, One Perfect, The Other Torn
I purchased two items from the same seller, both in "Condition: New". This item was in excellent condition and very clearly a new item. Very happy about this one. This is not the case for the other, also listed "New", which arrived with more than just wear and tear, the cover was torn in multiple places.

this book is great. Takes a little while to get going but ...
Of course, this book is great. Takes a little while to get going but when it does, it seriously does. Rainbow Rowell can write sexual tension like no one else - I don't know how many times I screamed internally "KISS ALREADY." Not just the 'Harry Potter with name changes' I thought it would be - has its own unique plot which is brilliant. My two problems with it were that it's about England by an American author and it's obvious - specifically stating that Simon ate a mint Aero, talking incessantly about scones and tea. It kind of annoyed me as a Brit at first but then I got used to it. Second, bi invisibility. So much bi invisibility.Overall, well worth reading, very satisfying.
