Does it create volume? And is it drying/damaging at all?

If your hair has curl in it, this shapes the curl nicely, even when hair is dry (not fresh from the shower). If you don't have curl already, then I'm not sure. It is not damaging hair for my family member with the most fragile hair. If anything, it seems to protect it some. I don't know how that works or whether it is an intended effect.
