Schmidt's Aluminum Free Natural Deodorant for Women and Men, Ylang-Ylang + Calendula with 24 Hour Odor Protection, Certified Cruelty Free, Vegan Deodorant, 3.25 oz

This stuff is amazing. I have always stayed away from natural deodorants because my experience has been that if the most popular brands don't work. I work out hard (crossfit) and I am unfortunately not one of those girls whose sweat doesn't really stink. The only brands of deodorant that I ever found to work were Secret and Degree and even though I hated using something with aluminum (and thus risking cancer, alzheimers, etc.) I thought I did not have a choice. Then I read an article on the best natural deodorants and a woman said she had tried this one and gone for a run on a hot day and it held up. At the time the article was written, this deodorant was apparently only available in a tub and you had to put it on with a spatula, but when I went to look for it on amazon, I found that it was offered in a stick, so I thought I'd try it. I cannot believe how well it works. I don't have to reapply any more than i would Secret (which is usually not at all, but sometimes I add a little right before I go and work out). The texture is a little grainier than regular deodorant but other than that, its exactly the same. If its cold when you're applying, just rub it on your hand for a sec or up and down in your arm pit and it quickly warms up and goes on smoothly. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this stuff. I pretty much never write reviews (even this one took me forever), but I really want to do it since I was so impressed with this product.

It took me about 30 seconds to get used to this deoderant compared to my old Secret stick. The consistency seems weird when you open it, but once you push the stick up and hold it against your skin for ~15 seconds to warm it up, it glides on. It's a bit gritty compared to conventional deoderant sticks, but I have come to like that aspect because it helps keep my armpits exfoliated! I've seen other natural deoderants that are packaged in jars and require application with a spatula -- that is never going to happen! I appreciate that this comes in a stick and actually works.The ylang-ylang and calendula scent is so relaxing and enjoyable, and it makes me want to reapply in the afternoon as a sort of perfume substitute. I do reapply this deoderant before I work out for extra protection against sweat-funk, and it does the trick. I sweat a lot when I work out, so I need a shower afterwards, but it's nice knowing that my pits don't smell awful during the workout. I was skeptical about this product because it's promoted by GOOP, but it's a keeper for me (and at $10 is one of the more affordable products that GOOP promotes).

I really like this natural deodorant. It keeps me pretty dry and smelling nice all day. I really like the lower price on Schmidts as compared to other brands. The moisture protection for me lasts about 24 hrs. By the next morning, the deodorant is worn off. I don't sweat much, so heavy sweaters may need to reapply in PM.Have used the Lime-Bergamot and Ylang-Ylang scents. I like both but LOVE the softer, slightly citrus scent of Ylang-Ylang. Lime may be better for smell protection since the scent is stronger if that is a consideration for you.Here are a few tips for switching to natural deodorants (including Smidts) if you are new to using: The ones that help keep you dry will be gritty in texture. This is normal and expected. This also means you need to be gentle when applying. I like to hit deodorant stick with a blast of hot air from my blow dryer before using to soften product. You can also hold the product against skin for a few moments to heat it up. I believe most sensitivity issues come from applying too much product and/or aggressively rubbing cold product on armpits and causing micro-abrasions, leading to red bumps/rash. I have sensitive skin and have not experienced any issues from Schmidts. I transitioned to natural deodorant with another brand and only had mild sensitivity when switching back and forth btwn natural and aluminum based. I now only use naturals.
