I have been in IT since around 1969. I have sat behind a keyboard for hours every day. They used to be metal. They used to have a positive feel. They used to be heavy...they wouldn't slide around your desk. Those were the days when you had a keypunch, or a terminal that connected to a shared computer, and the cost per seat was high. The keyboards weren't better, people got RSI, newspapers lost copy editors because they couldn't work. Computers became commodities. People started resenting keyboards that cost more than a buck 2 ninety eight...and most of them were junk. They were so flexible that they just felt bad. They typed badly. Even good keyboards were crappy. This keyboard feels like a throwback to old times. It is solid. It doesn't twist if you pick it up by a corner. The keys have a good feel as you type. Despite years of practice and courses I can't touch type, so the lighted keyboard is exactly what I need. And the patterns are pretty. Keycaps are, perforce, molded with two different plastics because of the LED and translucent letter shaped section, so they won't wear out like painted keycaps. Somehow they do this for the cost of the junk keyboards. If it breaks I'll buy another and keep the first one for parts. I've only owned it for a short time, it is plugged into my PS5 right now, but based on how it feels I expect it to last for a while.
