Great illustrations, not a great read
I really love nature/ animal based books using real photographs. Of course this book is beautiful because it’s national geographic. I was hoping to use this to teach my toddler the names of different birds but instead it just called each bird “red bird” blue bird”. Disappointed, but I kept it anyways because it still useful with the other facts and leaning colours and I can just say the names myself.

No description about the birds at all
There is no description about the birds, they have not even mentioned their names.. how will you explain about birds to the children if you don't have the knowledge about them. Also very basic information is given about the birds.

Lovely basic board book
This is a lovely board book for the youngest readers (ages 1-2), teaching the very basic colours. It would benefit greatly (benefit the intended audience) if the names of the birds were provided so that kids would learn that birdies have collective names (as opposed to personal) and that would make this book more appealing to older kids, say 4-year-olds who are into some 'serious learning' :) And for younger readers, it would be great to see individual details separately (like, a feather when feathers are mentioned). It is an adorable book, great photos of real living creatures, parents can elaborate describing the photos, but if you are having one of them days when your eloquence gone down the drain with the washing up soap, the book won't have much prompting (only a personal view).

Not a good book, get the other one
There's are different bird board book by same company that is much better. This one doesn't even name the birds, just goes by colours. It would be good for a child who needs a very simple book. Not good for a child with a keen interest in birds.
