I donโt often share a resource in this way but when a gem of a resource like this crosses my path I have to let you all know about it. Huw Richards, author of Grow Food for Free Palmerโs book is full of recipes using locally sourced material to create mineral and biological extracts to feed plants. the Guardian Perfect for fans of Charles Dowding and Huw Richards! In The Regenerative Growerโs Guide to Garden Amendments , experimental gardener and author Nigel Palmer provides practical, detailed instructions that are accessible to every grower who wants to achieve a truly sustainable garden ecosystem โ all while enjoying better results at a fraction of the cost of commercial fertilisers. These recipes go beyond compost by allowing you to make your own biologically diverse inoculants and mineral-rich amendments using leaf mould, weeds, eggshells, bones and other common materials available for little or no cost. Recipes include: Extracting nutrients from plant residues using simple rainwater techniques Extracting minerals from bones and shells using vinegar Fermenting plant juices and fish Culturing indigenous microorganisms (IMO) Inspired by the work of many innovative traditional agricultural pioneers, especially Cho Ju-Young (founder of the Korean Natural Farming method), The Regenerative Growerโs Guide to Garden Amendments also includes a primer on plant-soil interaction, instructions for conducting a soil test, and guidance on compost, mulching and so much more!

For serious garden supplement nerds only.
A fabulous book for those with a keen interest in an in depth look into garden supplements/amendments. I love this book!

This is really interesting
This has a truly interesting and achievable slant on regenerating soil naturally. While I am not wholly convinced of the energy stuff discussed (that's just me being sceptical) the amendment recipes make enormous sense, and with one notable exception are almost free as well as natural. I found the book fascinating, and I am keen to put into practice the ideas and recipes. Local ingredients making local adjustments to soil - it just all makes huge sense.

Fear not "pests"
I have a large home garden and for 25+ years. I have to admit that I've been secretly afraid of aphids... I have noticed how they flock to certain plants and do not jump to the one next to them. It is only after this book and the first application of the nettles recipe that I saw them disappear everywhere over a week. They have just gone and I know that my plants are being deeply nourished. I literally put my aphid infested pepper plants right next to the no aphid tomato plants with no fear of infestation. The peppers have no aphids as of today and everyone looks amazing. This book gives the how and why the aphids come and go and in basic language. If you want to go deeper into the science, great resources are listed. But this book is brilliant! Nigel Palmer has made amendments accessible to all. They are everywhere and free with some work! I am about to buy five more copies to send to all the gardeners I know and love. Thank you Nigel for this beautiful book. Thank you! Oh, I'm just talking aphids here but I'm sure the results will be the same with all "pests". I am so excited to apply all of the recipes to my environment. If you want to up level your relationship with your garden, this is is a game changer! Happy growing all!

Healthy crops without a dependency on crop defence interventions
This book provides a good summary of a new garden model, which opens the possibility to grow healthy vegetables and fruit, focusing on organic plant nutrition rather than plant protection.
