What is the write speed of this drive?

Sustained write speeds of about 30MB/s on Windows 10 (20H2), I am reading my Kingston React Plus (300 MB/s) around 130MB/s on the same port.

Does this have an activity indicator light?

It does not. Inam veryhappy with it, though.

Can this USB key be password protected?

SanDisk's proprietary software is not required to encrypt (password protect) this USB drive. In fact, you're better off using something more ubiquitous such as BitLocker, which is built into the OS, and also accessible on Linux (and i think Mac, but I never use that). There's nothing special about this drive that requires using their proprietary software.
