This movie is primarily in Portuguese, so reading is required to watch it. But the movie is fast-paced and you soon forget that you're reading. This is an inspiring movie about 3 boys, with the help of a missionary priest and female teacher that overcome rampant police and local government corruption. At great risk to their personal safety, they work together to expose a corrupt mayor-wanna-be and police department. It brings to light how poor people in Brazil are viewed and treated. Most of all, however, it beautifully brings out the fact that there is good and beauty in everyone, if we only take time to notice it. A very well done film worth seeing.

Really good movie that felt realistic and with Martin Sheen and unexpected delightful movie, now on Netflix 8f you can believe it!!

The answer to the question above is in this movie because that's what happens when 2 teenage boys living in the slums of Rio find something valuable in the city dump. This movie has a lot of heart and it comes with a beautiful message of faith, perseverance and determination. The 3 boys were fan to watch, such a group of talented boys plus Rooney Mara and Martin Sheen speaking Portuguese was amazing. Great movie but I won't say much not to spoil this brilliant plot but I might add that the scenes in the cemetery were my favorite.

Oh WOW! What a thrilling movie. I was on the edge of my chair the entire time, and I loved the ending. Those three children were amazing actors, and I think even Matt Damon would be impressed at their ability to do Jason Bourne type escape stunts. I wish I could give this movie ten stars. It was fabulous. Rooney Mara's endearing role topped off a movie that is both a thriller and an emotional experience.

This is so touching!!! The three boys are s brave! I was came for Rooney but this film is really not just about anyone since each role plays an very important part and all the characters are live and sunny! The name of it is called Trash, and there is a scene at the very last few minutes when the boys are throwing cash into the mountains of trashes, which is soooo amazingly captured, hit right to the point where money would be less than trash when people are chasing them with evil desires. Great love! 5 stars!!!!

Bought this after seeing the trailer. I love this movie about young boys who pick trash in a Brazilian dump and find a wallet. Although considered trash themselves by some in their society, they turn out to be little heros with great integrity. I don't understand why professional movie critics were hard on this fiilm as many who watched this film loved it. It is almost as if some people don't believe in the possibility of goodness in the human heart, even amidst great poverty and oppression.

It's an OK film which has some good points, but, child stars in this sort of thing are known to have ended up dumped right back into the garbage when the hooplah was over. So it has a taint of exploitation about it that cannot be dispelled.

El director Stephen Daldry nos vuelve a ofreces otra obra de gran nivel dentro de su filmografía. El director de Las Horas, Tan Fuerte Tan Cerca, Billy Elliot y El Lector nos lleva hasta las favelas de Brasil donde unos niños se acaban convirtiendo en una especie de detectives que deben resolver un grave caso de corrupción. Recomendable, como toda la filmografía de este magnífico director.

Man nimmt ihnen sofort ab, dass sie Freunde sind.TRASH: Ein interessantes Thema, ein Drama. Das alltägliche Leben bzw. Überleben in den brasilianischen Favelas-drastisch realistische und schmutzige Gewalt. Und bei alldem überwiegt die Sympathie, die ich für die Hauptakteure empfinde.Ergänzt werden diese vielversprechenden Jungschauspieler von etablierten Hollywood- Grössen wie Martin Sheen und Rooney Mara-diese treten zwar etwas mehr in den Hintergrund, werden aber in Schlüsselszenen gut eingesetzt, liefern außerdem als " zivilisierte "Amerikaner einen interessanten Kontrast zum Geschehen in den Slums.TRASH- meine Empfehlung. Un film interessante, una storia realistica che coinvolge emotivamente sui temi del "fare la cosa giusta" e dell'amicizia.Lo avevo visto al cinema con i miei figli (13 e 16 anni) ed era riuscito a catturare l'attenzione anche del più grande.Super bravi i tre ragazzini, autentici fino al midollo.Un 5 in recitazione e credibilità al missionario ed alla volontaria straniera.Com'è che nel cast figurano solo questi ultimi e dei tre ragazzi non si fa cenno?Un film da consigliare, certamente una bella alternativa alle ben più pubblicizzate scemenze pim-pum-pam, pseudo-comiche, di fantascienza o che propongono "modelli di successo".PS Mia figlia lo ha visto al cinema, ha letto il libro, ha visto il dvd almeno altre 15 volte e lo ha proposto a scuola con successo.

è un'avventura affascinante che nasconde tanti significati profondi. i ragazzi hanno trovato un tesoro e sono pronti a difenderlo a qualunque costo. in fondo, per loro, è la possibilità di avere una vita dignitosa. non appena per il denaro, che in fondo a loro interessa poco. ma per il gusto di battersi per qualcosa di grande e di vero. alla fine è una corsa verso la maturità, che è la purezza del mare e non il male della violenza e del potere. raggiungerla costa sacrificio, ma l'uomo non è fatto per vivere nella spazzatura. bellissimo anche per i ragazzi, non troppo piccoli però, perchè a tratti è piuttosto duro.
