EXACTLY what I needed to store the oil from my fryer and to fill with bags of milk to take on long boat trips. Great quality, super functional and very attractive. They are, however, VERY pricey!

We have a fantastic 5L "umeshu" Japanese-made glass jar with an integrated glass handle we got in Japan many years ago. Sadly, they wither don't make them any more or they can't be found on the internet. I found this solid glass jar, 4L size, with a plastic handle. While it's smaller, it's still a good size for storing rice, cereal, flour, sugar, etc., odor-free, for long periods of time. Plastic containers are not good for these types of storage uses as the plastic eventually imparts both an odor and taste, ruining the contents, which then must be thrown out. Large solidly-built storage jars like this are hard to find.This glass jar is solid and strong. It has a very wide mouth, so dipping in a rice cup or flour cup to scooping up cupfuls of rice, sugar, flour, etc., is very easy. The plastic handle is sturdy, not flimsy, so I have confidence when lifting up a full jar to pour contents out in large quantities.The wide mouth on the jar also makes for very easy washing and fast drying.And though I wish it was a little larger, 4L is large enough for most needs. They come in a two-jar pack, so between the two you can empty most sizes of rice, flour, etc. (Obviously not the 50lb sacks of rice!)For those who want to use it for other cold liquids (like ice tea or lemonade, etc.) it has a lid which seals the top with a pour opening with a separate locking opening cover, so that pouring directly out of the jar is easy. It's a little on the big side for fitting into a refrigerator, but it will still fit, so in that case, the 4L size might be good rather than the larger 5L one I have for making umeshu (which doesn't need refrigeration.)I am very pleased to have found this jar and the price was very reasonable. The glass is solid, and the plastic handles are also strong grade of plastic, appropriate for the size and weight of the glass. It was also packed very securely with lots of bubble wrap inside a box inside another box. I bought two sets and will buy another set. I highly recommend it.

Large mouth. Round with fairly strong plastic handle. Has an internal pour spout with an anti-splash feature that fits under the jar lid. One spout per jar plus one extra spare. I use these for making sun tea and size fits nicely in the refrigerator. Good quality and a rare find.

My negative review is based on the misleading nature of the description, not the jars themselves. I was looking for a 1-gallon jar, and the description says "gallon jar" or "these gallon jars" many times. However note, you get 2 separate half-gallon jars. The description is very misleading.
