Very thorough and helpful dictionary. I recommend it to anyone who wants to expand their vocabulary.

Well, I guess I now own a Dictionary of Synonyms and Antonyms. I ordered 2 books, billed to me but to be sent to my son who is in a correctional facility. He has no access to a computer but is taking college courses. I order the books and send them to him.One book won't be released until 12/4 - I checked the shipping addressed which is the correctional facility so he should get it.This other book is still sitting here in its package, unopened. The facility is strict on ordering - it has to be in the company's packaging and clearly marked. I can't go to a store, buy a book and send it to him. This means I can't run a label over it, throw it in the mail box and think he's going to get it - he's not. The facility will return it to me (I'm very good at writing and don't need this). To send it back to Amazon, it would cost me $5.99 although I have Prime and shipping outbound is free.What these companies don't understand is a correctional facility is prison. Each State has a different set of rules as to mail. He was in another state - I could send him a birthday card. In this state, I can send a birthday card BUT it has to be in a white envelope or it gets returned to me. Why color matters, I don't know.He is fortunate to be in a facility where he can work on his degree but there are things that don't fall on taxpayers (nor should they). I pay for books, pads, pens, pencils, notebooks, an extra pair of socks, underwear, a snack, coffee, anything medical - it's not a country club nor do I expect it to be. He gets the basics from the state - 3 squares, a roof, one pair of sneakers, a blanket & pillow and a shower. Any ''extras'' - a newspaper, magazine, a radio , etc. (again, each facility has a list of items) are picked up by family/friends. Being retired, I guess I'll be reading about synonyms - I can use the 5.99 elsewhere.

I'm not writing a novel or anything to be published; but, I love learning to express myself in various ways. I write things for my children--- poems, letters, journaling, and find I can be redundant and what I am writing doesn't express my intent or intensity. This book is a helpful tool and I just enjoy learning how to use words in various ways.

My 4th grade daughter uses it a lot, she likes to read and Oxford dictionary is her guide. I highly recommend this book.

My wife, who delights in crosswords, Countdown and similar word related activities, was thrilled with the book. Despite shelves of dictionaries and thesauruses she finds this volume to be her most knowledgeable, comprehensive and convenient aid - apart from me.

I just loved it. It's really helpful especially for those who are craving to increase their vocabulary. Book quality and paper quality is excellent.

Ce dictionnaire des synonymes et des contraires ne se veut pas complet, mais il fournit, dans un format de poche et en 470 pages, l'essentiel du lexique.Il apporte de précieuses informations sur les mots sujets à confusion, des listes de mots liés à une thématique (fruits, légumes, vêtements, phobies etc).Ce dictionnaire est relativement complet et extrêmement bien fait pour aider tout édudiant de niveau supérieur à perfectionner son anglais dans le choix des mots, les nuances à établir... mais également tout un chacun intéressé par la langue anglaise à un niveau avancé.
