Adventures Of The Yorkshire Shepherdess

Another great book from the Yorkshire Shepherdess
I have read and enjoyed both Amanda Owen’s previous books, so I was looking forward to reading Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess. Again it is a lovely book, very well written with lots of tales about Amanda’s family and life on their farm. Amanda lives and works on a remote hill farm in Yorkshire, with her husband Clive, and nine children. Life is not easy but appears to me to be very rewarding for the family. I admire Amanda and Clive, love the way they have chosen to live and how they bring up their children. Never a dull moment with such a large family and the responsibilities of looking after the farm and animals. In this book, we learn that they have decided to buy a nearby farmhouse to renovate and set down firm roots (Ravenseat, the farm they work is a tenant farm). A really great read about life on the farm, family life and renovating the new farmhouse. Well written, interesting and informative. Looking forward to the next installment of Amanda and the Owen family.

What an amazing lady. Great read.
Having heard about Amanda for some time I, at last, decided to buy her latest book. I enjoy books about rural life and have spent several holidays in the Yorkshire Dales. I really loved this book. I am amazed at how Amanda can combine life on a busy farm with bringing up a very large family, hosting tourists, let alone writing books and TV programmes. It shows how much can be achieved through a devotion to life in the beautiful countryside combined with a very close and loving family. The book is so well written and you feel the highs and lows of the challenges of looking after livestock and the joys when everything goes well. I must now catch up on her two earlier books.

It'll be reet!
Amanda Owen and her husband Clive live in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales with her 9 "feral" children, horses, sheep and dogs. In the third installment of her writing we find her trying a new money making scheme and facing the "Beast from the East" (the name given to the 2018 winter which saw winds being blown in from Siberia). An entertaining variety of stories from the farm but I think to thoroughly understand some of the stories or even Amanda Owens background and how she came to be in Ravenseat you would probably benefit from reading her first autobiography.

An interesting life well written
I totally enjoyed the television series so thought I'd read the book. Despite the local dialect being written in places, it could be difficult to understand but it was made clear what was being said so I thoroughly enjoyed the story of life being a shepherdess in Yorkshire. I found the style of writing flowed well and described life so clearly I could remember what I had seen on the television. I now intend to buy the other books by the Yorkshire Shepherdess

A Reet Riveting Read
Purchased for mother to read whilst on holiday, a Yorkshire lass born n bred herself, she thoroughly enjoyed this book. She read in the car, in bed at night and watching the grandchildren play. It was a riveting read and she couldn’t put the book down. The Yorkshire Shepherdess provides great insight into the life of the Owens as tenant farmers at Ravenseat in the Yorkshire Moors/Dales. Wonderfully Refreshing!
