Q: Curious as to how much rope is taken up, with each stroke of the handle?

More seriously, it gives a 10:1 mechanical advantage, so it's about 1/10th of the handle's travel. The stretch of the rope and the load affect it though. Dragging my daughter's car on the dirt, parking brake set, I found 4 cm (a tad more than 1.5") for an actual stroke of 3 clicks under a serious load.

Q: What in the weight rating for the supplied 1/2" rope?

The minimum break strength of the rope is equal to 4818 lbs. However, our Rope Pullers have a maximum capacity of ¾ ton, 1500 lbs. With that being said we only recommend using the rope puller to the maximum capacity of 1500 lbs., not to the minimum break strength of rope itself.

Q: Hate to sound like a newbie, but how do you use this come-along? Attach it to a strong tree? I need to pull some juniper stumps.
