Q: Can you use it on plum trees? if not, any recommondations for what to use on plum trees?thanks

I wish I had used captan on my plum tree. This puts a halt to the mummy plum and its recycling through the soil. But subterranean termites did in the tree. I did not find the spray harmful to the plum tree or others. If you have mummy plums try captan and put some plastic sheet around the base of the tree to capture the fallen mummies so the infection doesn't get back into the soil to arise again next year.

Q: Would it help to spray my peach and nectarine trees now (August, no fruit), or wait until next spring?

I will advice you wait until next spring. From my experience in using this product, it does NOT kill bugs or fungus on fruit trees. It only "Controls" them by keeping them dormant from harming the fruit. I spray my peach, and apple trees once a week. If I miss spraying one week, I risk getting rot or bugs on some of fruit. That tells me they were not dead, but spraying keeps them from harming the fruit. Bonide is effective when I spray starting in spring when the fruits start to show up until harvest time. If you need something that will kill the bugs or fungus during winter, it's best to look at other products - but not this one.
