Mattel Jurassic World Amber Collection Velociraptor Blue The previous Amber Collection releases never managed to draw my interest. The Velociraptor looks good, but the sculpt was very clearly meant for Blue., and Ian just doesn’t look enough like Ian. They are nice figures, but not for me. This one, however, caught my eye immediately, and I am happy to report that I am definitely not disappointed! The sculpt is gorgeously detailed. Nearly every scale, bump, skin fold, and wrinkle is in place. She even has the small osteoderms on her neck. These were missing in the main line Blue figures. The details are not perfect, however. There are a few areas around the bottom seam line that are a bit on the smooth side, but it’s nothing glaring. Also, while her nostrils are sculpted beautifully, her ears are nowhere to be seen. She also suffers from the same enlarged feet as her smaller counterparts. It just seems like an odd creative choice to sculpt the oversized feet since she includes a stand. My only other major issue is with the teeth. While the teeth are perfectly serviceable, they could have been so much more. If only they were thinner, and more sharpened, they would have been perfect. As it stands, they’re rather blunted, and look more like something made for a child’s toy rather than an adult collector. I’m especially disappointed that my particular figure has a small bit of red paint dripped onto the teeth. Luckily, it’s on the inner part of the teeth, so you cannot see it unless you’re at the right angle. Articulations and paint are where this girl really shines. She has 21 points of articulations, as well as a bendy tail. The joints are tight, but still easy to move. They hold their positions well, and have great range of motion. Thanks to the included stand (which also features articulations), you can achieve some really dynamic poses. I especially love that Mattel gave her articulated killing claws. It’s an excellent little touch that adds a lot to the figure. The paint applications are spectacular! Blue’s coloration is lifted directly off the silver screen. Her trademark blue stripes have never looked so good, and she is even covered in the dark and light mottling that was missing from the standard releases. The interior of the mouth is a glossy pink and red. The teeth are mostly well painted, except for the aforementioned mishap on my particular figure. The eye is done in a bold golden color, and there is no hint of sloppiness. Mattel also made sure to address one of the most vocal criticisms of the main line: unpainted claws. That’s not an issue here! All of the claws are painted perfectly, even the dewclaws. My only real gripe is that the paint just seems to end at the tip of the tail.Overall, this figure is a worthy addition to any Jurassic collection. Other than a few nitpicks, and one or two unfortunate mishaps, she is a beautiful representation of our girl Blue!

Very well articulated dinosaur toy.
Exactly what I was looking for, although slightly disappointed that the price is not the same as store retail but more after market mark up. Overall a great figure that my kids and I enjoy playing with.

Absolutely Fantastic Raptor Figure
I was super impressed with the mattel line of dinosaur toys in general. The sculpts are immaculate, they feel sturdy/strong enough to be played with younger audiences and the paint jobs although simple are for the most part really well done. My biggest thing was the articulation. They had a good amount but I was left wanting for just a little more. The amber collection raptors fulfilled this want.I got the JP version first and I was so impressed I got Blue as well. (Still on the fence about Charlie because of the paint application on his face...) I can say hands down though that these raptors are some of my favorite dino toys. The detail is great, the paint is application is wonderful, the level of articulation is fantastic and they still feel sturdy enough to be handled posed and played with. (They may not be appropriate for super young audiences (4-6 year olds) but older than that you should be good.) My only complaint is the jaw on the Blue that I got is just a slightly more loose than my JP raptor. (I imagine this is an individual issue though.) Other than that really minor issue she's just about flawless. If you're a fan of Jurassic Park/dinosaurs you will love these figures. I can't wait to have a whole pack of these guys and I'm super excited to see more dinos join the Mattel's Amber Collection line.

looks better in person!
When i bought this at first i thought the teeth were going to look peg like judging from the photos, but i bought it anyways because i wanted a posable blue in the correct scale for my indoraptor figure (because they could have been a cute couple if JW hadn't made blue a superhero and indo a mindless killing machine).I was VERY pleasantly surprised once she came in the mail and it turned out the photos were misleading. the amount of articulation is wonderful and the detail is great! i would absolutely recommend this as a good buy if you are looking to collect an articulated toy. if your buying this for a younger child though just keep in mind it's only posable and doesnt have a button that makes the claws slash or anything like that.
