Shannon Dermott does not disappoint
That is the story of Mercy Moore who is a junior in high school and has only been kissed by one boy...one boy she almost killed with that kiss. I read another book by Shannon Dermott (Through the Lens) and loved it so I decided to pick up `Beg for Mercy'. It did not disappoint. There is a lot of inner dialogue from Mercy, so we really get to know and connect with her character quickly. In the beginning, it took a little time for me to get used to all the inner dialogue, since I am not a fan of that type of writing style. However, in this book, it works. You get a great understanding of how this 16 year old sees her life, school, mom, friends and boys. Yes, there are a lot of boys in Mercy's life. You may find some of what Mercy says or thinks is immature, but you have to remember she is 16 years old. Also, she has only kissed one boy and that did not go well so she has been staying away from boys ever since.Mercy's mother holds a lot of secrets as to who Mercy is in this world. It was frustrating for me since I had some issues with her mom. However, I love how Shannon Dermott has me not like the mother, but yet try to understand where the mother was coming from by holding all these secrets from Mercy. Many times, I wanted to yell at Mercy's mom (more like my Kindle) and say "just tell her or she will resent you." So, yes, I got emotionally involved in the characters. As the story progresses, we learn why a girl who has only had one boyfriend in her life immediately draws the attention of four. By the end of the book, you will have a `boy crush team' that you will be rooting for. I have mine, but keep switching back and forth. Every time, I am rooting for specific boy, another one does something that makes me switch back. Would it be bad if I was rooting for the devil??? *sigh* YES that was a sigh for the devil.! I don't particularly care for love squares/triangles times two. No joke, Mercy is able to attract all types of boys and change them.Once you have finished this book, Shannon Dermott, wrote a few POVs that are on Figment from Flynn and Sebastian, 2 male characters in the series. I love these guys! Who am I kidding??? I think I love all male characters in this book. I am telling you, if you read this book it will be so hard for you to choose your favorite "team boy."Did I skim? NoEnding/Cliffhanger: I wanted to immediately to start the sequel.Did I feel connected to the characters: YesDid I look forward to going back to the book when I had to stop? YesDo I recommend? Yes.Positives: Great story. Great characters.Negatives: Mercy can be a little repetitive with her thoughts.Pace of the story: Good

Doctor's Notes Review
I have to say this book was so amazing I don't think I can put it into the right words. I loved everything about this book from beginning to end. The author has a way with words that just made this book flow so seamlessly and at the perfect pace. I flew through this book and actually stayed up late at night to finish it because I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters and got so attached to them that I didn't want to let them go. The concept of teenagers having to deal with all that they had going on was a huge plus for this book as it created so much action and suspense.I loved the character of Mercy. She had to grow up so quickly as a teenager and didn't get to enjoy all the normal things that kids her age were doing. Mercy had to keep a huge secret about what she was and boy was it a major one. I have to say I don't think I have read many books about succubus that were told from a teens point of view. This just made it more unique because the author showcased all the teen emotions and issues through Mercy in such a great way.The author knows how to write a story and craft it into perfection.I have to say I loved Paul,Flynn, Luke, and Sebastian in this story. I wanted them all to be with Mercy for completely different reasons. I loved that Paul was one of Mercy's best friends and knew her better than anyone and has always been there for her. I loved that Luke was such a gentleman and would do anything for Mercy. Oh my where do I begin with Flynn. I guess I really am a sucker for the bad boy and boy was Flynn one. I liked that Mercy brought out a better side of him though and he was able to let loose and be himself more. Sebastian was just cool on a whole other level and I loved him and Mercy together too. Mercy will have some tough choices ahead of herself and I loved that the author was able to sell me on all of these guys. I tend to not love triangles but this one is more than that and I could truly see Mercy with any of them.Overall I loved everything about this book and can't wait to read the next one. I can see this series getting better and better as there is so much potential there for it. The characters are ones you love and some are ones you love to hate. The author crafted them so well and endeared them all to me that I need more of them in my life like right now. I am so glad the author sent me the next one in the series and I bought the novella too and can't wait to get to them. I highly recommend you to drop everything and read this series like now because you will not be disappointed.I received this book for free for review for a blog tour but that in no way impacted by review.

it just dragged...
I don't know why I didn't like this book but I just didn't, although the story line is usually exactly what I enjoy. The story dragged and Mercy REALLY annoyed me, I mean really really. I was getting fed up waiting for the whole thing to come together and when it did I just felt a real anti-climax. I also found that the story didn't flow and I needed to re-read paragraphs..I wont bother with the other books in the series.
