Following the instructions, I boiled milk in the pot low heat, and ended up with burned, black mess on the bottom. How do I clean it up?

I used about 1/2 inch of water, vinegar and baking soda. Heat the water until gently simmering, pour in the vinegar and baking soda, and let it cook for a few minutes. That helps lift the burnt gunk. Scrape carefully while the water is simmering. Most of the gunk should come off. Let everything cool, scrub with more baking soda and lots of elbow grease. At least that's what worked for me (pretty much what I do anytime I get burnt gunk on a pot). If you're having issues and the baking soda rough isn't enough, try large crystal salt, instead.

Does this work on induction cooktops

It will not work with induction cooktops unless you use with an induction disk I believe.

Does the 2 qt. capacity come in white?

Check on their web site to see the colors, but I don’t think so.

Since there is no handle on top, seems like it might be hard to get the lid off while it is hot. Is this a problem?

It is very easy with a hot pad. The two "bowls" of the pot are different sizes so it is very easy to remove as well as flip the pot.
