Wanted something a bit smarter than the normal plastic ones and these certainly match that requirement

Never indicate the size of the12 pieces set, a bit misleading! 4 of them are mini size!

**This review is for the: OXO Good Grips 8 Piece SNAP Leakproof Glass Rectangle Food Storage Container Set** I purchased these because of the borosilicate glass. I was looking for a set of containers with a snapping lid that could be used to cook, freeze and store food. I also wanted something I could take straight from the freezer to the oven for meals that had been prepared ahead of time and frozen. It's also nice that any leftovers can be sealed in the container and put back in the fridge for lunch the next day. The lids are very sturdy and I have used these a lot since my purchase 6 months ago. We wash the containers in the dishwasher, with the lids on the top shelf and they still look almost new. I will note that the lids can be difficult to snap into place, but I find that by using the heel of my palm and gently pushing down on the lid while pushing the tab seems to make it easier. This seems to be because the seal needs to be compressed slightly for them to snap properly. We also have a set of Glasslock containers that we've had for a couple of years, but they are not borosilicate glass. You can cook in them, but you couldn't go straight from freezer to oven/microwave. This made them great for cooking and leftovers, but not so great for food we prepared ahead of time. If you're not looking for temperature shock resistance, then you may be better off looking for a non-borosilicate glass as they typically run cheaper. The OXO containers also seem to be a bit more rounded/gradual on the corners and edges, where the Glasslock were more squared. I do find the lids slightly easier to lock on the Glasslock, but that could be due to age and break-in. As others have noted an "8 piece" set means 4 containers and 4 lids. This is a very common convention of marketing for all food storage containers that I have come across, stating "pieces" rather than containers, so I didn't deduct any stars for that. I would say the overall quality is amazing. The lids feel sturdy and seal well, the glass appears free of defects on the set I have. My only real complaint is that the smallest dish in this set is not very useful for me, but the set price is better than buying pieces individually if the other sizes work for you.
