Beautiful photography - inconsiderate layout?
This book is a beautifully presented collection of portraits (with a few other images thrown in, ie. landscapes, still-life, curiosities etc.) which anyone with even a vague appreciation of art and/or people will enjoy viewing. The paper and printing quality are excellent - paper very thick and not easy to crease - and the accompanying words by Alexandra Fuller is a fantastic piece of writing, in and of itself. My only gripe, and reason for giving four stars, is that all of the images are displayed across the spine to cover both pages. Personally, I don’t believe this should ever happen in printing but can forgive the reasoning behind it; when shooting with a medium format camera, one may as well print images as large as possible. However, I think for certain (not all) images in this book, the double-page approach is a bit lazy and has completely ruined an image’s overall composition/aesthetic. In my opinion, the whole point of photography at this level is that every detail in every image should be important and act as a whole; not be broken up and distorted by a clumsy book spine. Just my opinion, anyway.

a far better book than 'A Photographer's Life'
Lots to look at here. Sumptuous reproduction and design. The portraits are representative of a photographer at the peak of her powers. In my opinion, a far better book than 'A Photographer's Life'. Most of these are taken with digital cameras and although I prefer the look of film, I have no complaints about this body of work. Buy with confidence.

Beautiful book, larger than I thought it would be
Beautiful book, larger than I thought it would be. If bought as a coffee table book, needs a fair size of a table! Can only recommend, the narrative, aswell as the pictures, gives you an insight into the mind of a very artistic and interesting woman.

She is the best Portrait Photographer by far!
So very pleased with this first “Coffee Table Book” purchase! Very large and slightly heavy. But full of great and unique people. Seen through the eyes of Annie!

Fabulous book.
Fabulous book if you like photography. An excellent coffee table book to start conversation for most adult ages. Also for those who don't like to much text . Expensive yes but worth it.
