So this product is fantastic. It came quickly and was well packaged. It includes instructions that my 6 year old was able to follow. He completed the building in 2 days!! He does have an older brother that lives and breathes LEGO, so that might be why he has the patience and skill to follow all those instructions (which he really did all on his own without any help from his older brother). If your child is good at following step by step instructions and organization, this is a great product. If your child doesn't follow steps well at a younger age, I would say save it for the older child. It is an intense build with over 2000 pieces. Another great feature is the instruction manual also comes with some background about Voltron. So not only is my son practicing following instructions and organization skills, he will also learn the history of this character so that he can present it at a 4H competition. The only negative things I can say about this set is why doesn't it have minifigs for the pilots? and to a much lesser extent the individual lions' blades/weapons. It's so sweet that on a 5 star rating system I can't give it 4 but if this was a 10point system I would definitely only given 9/10 for it not including these.Outside of that jeez this thing is awesome. The indivdual lions are big and sturdy and the formed Voltron is huge. It's rated 16+ but I was a kid that loved legos - I could have built this thing much younger than that and it would have been amazing to have a set like this when I was a kid.

This build is easily one of the most fun I've ever done. While cats 2 and 3 are identical in build as well as 4 and 5, they are still extremely satisfying to assemble and that fact is enhanced when you have all five cats lined up. Combining for Voltron is far easier than any sort of "create all of the separate pieces and fit them together" kind of builds I've done in the past. The leg cats give you a very satisfying "click" when you have them in place and flipping number 1's arms is easy so long as you're taking your time. I'd recommend this product to Lego enthusiasts of all levels and ages, assuming the barrier to entry (cost) has been cleared, of course.

Amazing set for any Voltron fan. Something every kid that saw the show and loves Lego would kill to have. It is great that you can combine it into Voltron and make it into single units. The only pet peeve would be that the black lions head is not that sturdy so it can fall off easily. And in general the black lion is really bulky and not that mobile, his front and back legs serve for connecting other lions to it so they are immovable. So the improvement would be more mobility to him but beyond that is a great set-piece or just to play around with in general.
