i couldn't even finish it
Oh Sophie , I'm so sorry to do this to you but this is the worst novel you have written by a long way . I couldn't even bring myself to finish reading it .This is from someone who lapped up your previous novels and laughed out-loud at the shopaholic series . I don't know what has happened but this is not your best work . I have to be honest and speak personally - others may love this book but I was bitterly disappointed and took the unfinished hardback book to the charity shop .Sorry Sophie .

2nd Class Sophie
I really enjoy Sophie Kinsella's books and look forward to each new one that comes out. This, however, didn't actually feel like a Sophie Kinsella book until chapter 13 when I laughed out loud three times and the fun Sophie came through. The brother and the 'teenage crush' are too horrible to make the story fun. The heroine, 'Fixie' is really too much of a pushover to deserve our support. There is 1st class Sophie (Shopaholic, Undomestic Goddess etc) and there is 2nd Class Sophie. I'm afraid this one goes on the 2nd Class list.

Amazing chick flick with a difference
Read in record time and jumped tbr pile, I am totally in love with Seb. At first I thought it was going to be an annoying book, but it is so cleverly written you are quickly drawn in to feel you know each of the characters and I kind of picture them in my head.I was so pleased it finished how I was hoping, definitely shouting in my head when there was a u turn for a while. The only thing I felt is I wanted more, after the nice ending I just wanted a little bit more of the perfect 2.Fixie meets her dream bloke not realising it at the time over a coffee and looking after his laptop, it is in the moment it is saved from destruction and this is where the connection starts, there is also typical family relations which I totally related to and was interesting to see another view point.

Boring and flat
*MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*I’m sorry but this book bored me almost to tears.I’ve read a few Sophie Kinsella books 10+ years ago and thought I’d give another one a try, just for some comfort reading. After reading the synopsis on the back I thought I’d give it a go, but it is quite misleading. You’re led to believe the story is about a series of IOU’s between Fixie and Seb, but they get barely any mention at all, and so much of the story is about her infatuation/obsession with her childhood crush who likes to pick up where things left whenever he’s in the area (In fact at one point Fixie actually gets in a huff over the IOU’s and says she doesn’t like them any more)It isn’t until over half way through the book Fixie realises she is a doormat. The book is mainly about Fixie’s relationship with her snobby siblings and their uncle, and about the transformation her family go through after some money trouble and almost ruining their family run business.Seb and Fixie as a couple get barely any air time at all. The book drags on and on for over 50% of it then glosses over and skips the best bits of Fixie and Seb’s reconciliation at the end, the bit I was looking forward to the most, and goes back to boring details about her green catering aprons, cava, and her Dad’s chair.Only read if you’ve really nothing better to do.

Not overall fond
Fixie is left to run the family shop, while recently widowed Mum goes off on a much needed, extended holiday to recover from a health scare. Fixie’s big brother Jake has intentions to rebrand the shop and move it upmarket, while sister Nicole wants to turn it into a yoga studio. Poor Fixie, the only one who works there full time, just wants to keep it the way their dear dad made it and the way the customers love it.Fixie can’t stand up for what she knows is right. Throw an ex and a new lover into the mix and you have the perfect recipe for a hilarious series of mishaps, muddles and misunderstandings. Can everything be solved by the time her mum comes back at Christmas?I wasn’t overly fond of this book written by Sophie. Along with ‘Wedding Night’ I just found this book frustrating and wanted it to end! I found the storyline extremely weird... although most books these days are fiction, I can’t imagine for one second that Fixie would be totally ok with Seb (her now ex) going back to his ex (Briony) after they had broken up!
