Secure Safety Solutions Gait Belt for Seniors, 60 Inch, Metal Buckle

The belt came fast and was exactly as described. My hubby and I are now older and both disabled. It was me who had to be the caregiver for all of the older individuals in the family, and one of my aunts had a stroke and was left partially paralyzed. Her lift belt was invaluable as she was overweight and a “dead” weight when she fell. The only way to get her up without calling the fire department was a lift belt. Now we need one for ourselves. My husband fell after surgery trying to sit in a chair. His gait was unsteady, the chair moved, and down he went. I almost was unable to get him up. I immediately went to Amazon for the solution. This belt was so reasonably priced, and gave the weight limit. I ordered asap. Shipment was fast, and now neither he or I will have a problem if the situation were ever to happen again. I have nerve damage in my left leg residual from back surgery. It is easy for me to fall. I can’t believe I waited this long to get such a valuable resource for home health.

This belt makes me feel secure. I have a brain issue that has resulted in mobility problems on my left side (similar to the effects of a stroke). I have only been using this belt for two days but it has helped both my husband and I get me walking with comfort and confidence. I use a walker with my husband behind me holding the belt. This is much more comfortable than his having to hold me around the waist. The metal buckle is strong and reassuring. I am comfortable wearing the belt all day making it easy for quick use. I have a caregiver that comes twice a week. We'll see what she thinks of it. She is tiny and I have been worried that I might crush her if I were to fall on her. She is much stronger than she looks, though. I am very happy with the quality of the product. It would be nice if the instructions included specifics on how to thread the buckle properly. It is not necessarily intuitive as to which opening should be threaded first and in which direction.

This item should be "standard issue" for caregivers, elderly or anyone who is unsteady on their feet.The use of a gate belt like this is like this is well worth the price. When a caregiver uses this gate belt it allows them to provide additional support early to prevent a fall and potential injury. If the patient has a hard fall it can minimize the impact and minimize injury. If someone falls and can not get up on their own, it is a valuable tool to assist them in getting up.Caution for caregivers - If you are there to assist someone getting up after falling, get additional help, don't risk throwing out your back or similar injury to yourself. While a gate belt always helps, the chances are you will need additional people to help to prevent injury to everyone.CLUE: When the caregiver uses the gate belt, insert your hand under the belt - grasping from the bottom - up. That way if the patient has a hard fall the gate belt will not get pulled out of your hand.

These belts are universally used physical therapists. You don't pull them so tight to restrict breathing, but to provide a physical sense of support to the person standing, sitting, walking, safely transferring.

Great gait belt

A necessity if caring for an elderly person who is a fall risk. My father fell prior to my purchase and it took 3 of us to get him up. With this belt, it only takes 2 from the floor and only 1 if from a chair. There are many great videos on YouTube showing the proper use of these belts. Great price and almost identical to the ones used in the hospital. Don’t wait until your love one has fallen - this is an inexpensive tool to have on hand and hopefully you’ll never need to use it.
