Berryman® Chem-Dip® Professional Parts Cleaner, 1 Gallon Can (replenisher for Part # 0905)

The product works great. No scrubbing needed. Paint it on with a natural hair brush and let it sit for 30 min, then wash or wipe off. The shipping method did not insulate the can well and it arrived dented but did not leak.

Was looking for the old school carb soak for a Carburetor I wanted to rebuild. Well not to worry this stuff works great. I used a larger stainless steel so the carb would fit. The other thing I cleaned was the EGR cooler on a Toyota Prius, Most Prius owners know that the EGR cooler is expensive. I filled the EGR cooler with Berryman's and lit it sit for about an hour. Poured the fluid out and washed with water. WOW looked like brand new. I am really happy with the performance of this product.

I didn't realize this product contains creosote or at least cresols. Before the purchase, I had looked at an MSDS sheet for Berryman Carburetor and Parts Cleaner, but didn't recognize that the content "cresylic acid" is a cresole mixture. Cresoles are coal tar distilates, giving the product a very intense coal-tar odor. I didn't like the odor this toxic compound gave my shop, so I am getting rid of it at a toxic waste clean up. Also, it is a two-phase liquid (it has a lighter yellow top layer floating on top of a dark brown separate layer lower layer. -- The can label says to "Remove parts and rinse with water." I did this for the ball bearings I bought this product to clean. I tried to blow-off the water immediately, thinking they were dry. They were clean, but many were rusted. I wish the product were solely a single-phase (no layers) water-clear organic solvent cleaner.

Product is fine. Container was damaged in shipping from just being thrown loosely in a box with no protection. Lucky it didn’t bust open and cause a bad chemical leak everywhere.

If you work on carburetors this is a great choice. I just used this gallon to replenish my five gallon dip can. It is important to submerge your part completely but this is the only one I can find that actually works

Works great but you need a gallon can with full open top and basket to hold parts in.

This is the replenisher for the 5 gallon professional cleaner. It is supposed to be stronger than the stuff you get at the parts store or Walmart. It does work better. But not as good as the Safety clean stuff or what was sold in the 70's. It did do the job, But was kind of dissappointed with it's performance. It still is just as smelly as the old product. I highly reccomend using this stuff outside. Carb cleaner is pretty bad stuff. Wear lots of protection using it. Respirator, gloves, long sleeves, Most of all safety glasses. Not a bad product, But not as stellar as it once was.
