Q: I am trying to unscrew the top to refill, but it seems frozen in place. Do you have any suggestions?

When I first tried to open the salt/pepper grinder, I thought the wing-nuts were involved with this operation - they are not. Note that the grey area immediately above the clear area is a slightly different color and has a different texture - that is where you must hold with one hand and the clear area with the other hand - then unscrew the two sections. (The pepper side works the same way.) So, when you have it apart, you have the grey part in one hand and the clear part, with the black pepper part below it in the other hand. I hope this helps.

In order to fill, you unscrew the hole white or black piece

Q: Can you use regular table salt?

I have never tried to use regular table salt, but I think it would defeat the purpose. The whole point of this device is to produce freshly ground salt and pepper, so using already-ground salt is not advised.

Q: doe this come wrapped at all- ie shrink wrapped? or just with a tag?

If I remember correctly, it just came with a tag, maybe in a small plastic bag, but not fully wrapped
