Cut That Agate - Gem Hunt

Great concept and good gems! Some of the kits out there are so messy and hard for younger kids to do. With this kit, all you have to do is add water and the sand becomes malleable. You can dig in the sand very easily to find your gems. The kit comes with a great informational booklet, containers for your stones, and even a small velvet pouch. Personally, the specimen container idea is nice, but would be better if they were clear. My nephew, however, keeps them in the pouch, so to him, the containers didn't even matter!I think this would make a great gift idea! It's fun and educational!

I bought this for my little rock hound for his 8th birthday. I've bought similar items but you always have to get a jack hammer to dig the gems out. This was simple, but still fun. I really liked how it came with little cups to put the gems in. We sifted through the sand and then washed the gems and put them on the guide to see which one as which. It was a fun activity.

Excellent product. I bought these for both my 9 and 11 year old boys and they really enjoyed them! Definitely nice to get them off their iPods for a little while. They keep their "treasures" in a hiding spot in their rooms :) Great buy, thank you!

My daughter had so much fun searching for gems with Gem Hunt. She has all of the beautiful gems in the black velvet pouch that is included and she loves to show her friends all of the gems she found :)

Fun but gems are very small.

I used this with my class of 5 year olds they loved it. I am disappointed with the size of the majority of the gems. All but 3 were so tiny. The kids would have loved to be able to look more closely at them. Despite the size it was still fun but I am not sure that it is worth $30!

I recently bought my cousins (boy & girl) ages 7 and 11 each the gem hunt and the Quartz geode kit for Christmas. Always looking for fun ways to capture their imaginations, in hopes to instill a love for earth sciences. I was very surprised when I received an email with photos thanking me for the gifts. The crystals in the pictures looked pretty good. Very happy with my purchase, highly suggest this product.
