Easy to understand, ability-focused
I am an autistic support teacher and I use this book every year to help teach students across grades K-5 about autism in their classmates or themselves. The book has realistic examples of behaviors that students with autism might exhibit and how those behaviors can alienate those students, which leads to great discussions about being friends with someone with autism. It's also a positive book in showcasing some of the great things that come with autism and I've heard a lot of kids highlight their peers' cool quirks after reading this book! I love the conversations this book elicits. Highly recommend!

and I especially love the artwork
All my Stripes is a delightful way to broach the topic of differences with children with autism spectrum disorders, and I especially love the artwork, which is colorful and draws you in. It is a very nice way for parents to talk with children about the positive aspects of themselves that have nothing to do with autism and that autism is just "one of my stripes". The book is supposed to be for ages 4-8, but there are very few children at age 4 who would have any understanding that they have autism, or even that they are being treated differently by others. the book would be good for high functioning children with autism starting around age 6 and would extend beyond age 8 for children with moderate or more severe levels of autism. The Reading Guide gives parents additional information regarding various statements in the book and the Notes to Parents section provides additional resources as well. I wish the treatment section included other therapeutic approaches (e.g. Floortime/DIR).

Perfect Read about ASD for Kids
This is the perfect book to touch on ASD with younger kids. Our son has a ASD dx so I'm always looking for books that touch on ASD, neurodivergent, MH, feelings etc. This book does just that. It's a smooth read, easy to follow along and isn't heavy. It's also a great read for neurotyypical kiddos- we use these books as teaching moments for our sons neurotypical cousins that are the same age.

Awesome Stripes!
We love this book! It is totally awesome and it really helped my children understand their autism diagnosis better. We talk about having different stripes from other people, even other kids on the Spectrum. My child's doctor suggested we get it. And I would definitely recommend this to other parents of children on the Autism Spectrum.I read it to my daughter's kindergarten class during "Light it Up Blue" to give children another perspective and hopefully give them compassion towards other's whose "stripes" may not be the same as their's. They received it very well.

We really like this book
This is a great book for helping kids keep things in perspective - that their differences can be strengths, and that being autistic is just one part of who they are. I liked that this book covered so many things - it helps my kid know they're not alone with their symptoms, and not alone in being seriously awesome.

My kiddo loved it
My son knows he had ASD, so I got him this book so he could understand more about his different brain. He loved it.

I bought several copies to give to the kiddos in my life who have autism. I will most likely buy more copies in the future.
