Before picking up a couple of these little amps, I read up on the amp-classification issue and Lepy vs Lepai branding. This seller is right on top of the chatter, marketing the TI circuitry and such. It's been years since I paid close enough attention to audiophile issues, but I felt comfortable enough with the new product to order a couple. Right now I'm listening to one driving Polk Audio bookshelf speakers which I have running as background "infill" for a whole-house system running Chromecast Audio. And I'll be darned if I notice a substantial difference in sound quality in comparison with far more expensive receivers & speakers on other zones. At this price point, I have to call it a miracle. After I've given these neat little devices more of a workout, I'll come back and bump them up to five stars. If the miracle holds out. (Edit: Two months later, I now own three of these and have given two more as gifts. I also own Accuphase and McIntosh gear and though it's apostasy to say so, this one gives more bang for your buck. So: 5 Stars.) Update: A week later, so far so good. Have two of them hooked up and they never even get warm and I have cranked them a bit. Sound is still reasonably clean which is amazing at the price point. There can be a touch of shrillness in the upper midrange but since I'm usually listening to Pandora the source material can be the issue. One note: when you switch them off, there's an unpleasant transient pop delivered to your speakers--not loud enough to blow anything, but annoying nonetheless. Not enough to cut a star from the rating anyway. PS: Please note that I have made reference multiple times to this item's price. It's because that's the context within which I can refer to these amps as 'small miracles'. They're certainly not going to outperform a $1500 amp, but they'll definitely give your average $100-150 amp a run for their money. BTW, on both of my units, the bass and treble controls (as well as the balance control for that matter) work fine. HTH!

This is actually a good amplifier. If you add a small heat sink and up the power supply you can get ear bleeding loud. With the included power supply you can still get a loud amount of sound out of it before distortion. The capacitors are all rated at 25 volts so don't believe the " 30 volt " max it says on the box. I tested it on three different set of speakers with the included power supply and with a 19 volt 3 amp labtop power supply. In all three cases the sound was good and loud. It is definitely worth upgrading the power supply. Just go to the resell store and find a labtop charger with the right polarity. I seen them for only a few bucks. Also the tone controls work good but I did notice a slight decrease in over all sound quality. Pros 1:cheap 2: good sounding with tone controls 3:wide voltage range 4.5 to 25 volts 4 : decent construction Coms 1: must slightly mod it by adding heat sink to get full power. I used a little heat sink that have sticking pad so I just stuck it on. 2: included power supply limits the performance. 3: has a click in the speakers when turned off. All in all I recommend this product. I see how it holds up

Used this amplifier for a pair of speakers wired at my workstation. Loved it while it worked well for around 2 years, it does a great job of playing audio for the price point. Then it started cutting out intermittently. It will play for a while, then pause for a few minutes and then keep playing. I know the power cable it came with is not great, I switched to a better one and the issue remains. Hopefully they’ve updated the build quality on these by now.
