How do you turn it off? pressing or pressing/holding t-mark button has no effect. recorder is always on. how do i turn it off?

Hi...The recorder is not always on. To turn it off, press and hold the round Play/Pause button and you will see a countdown on the monitor; 1...2...3, Bye, Bye. Then the monitor goes dark. I haven't set a passcode so to turn it on I press the same button until Welcome appears on the monitor.

What is the best way to transcribe meeting recordings?

You might look into the Otter tool available online. If you sign up for the Basic Plan it is free. You can import the audio file that you recorded and Otter will create a transcription. You can even go in and edit it if you see that Otter made a mistake. It is pretty accurate! I use it for work when I need transcripts of oral histories.

At what distance can this pick up voices when voice activated? And at what distance when "on", but not voice activated?

I haven't used voice activation, but when "on" recording, I can record my friend looking in my direction speaking across a city street. Impressive.

is it good for recording singing?

The clarity is really good. Although I don’t sing🥴, I think it’ll pass the test.

Amazing Product

My objective in purchasing this digital recorder was to record lectures / discussions from scholars, specially for pronunciation purposes. But I am finding that I am able to incorporate other data collected (inspirational speeches / quotes) from it into my social media platforms as well. The most amazing detail I like about this digital recorder is that it records voices (spoken normally) clearly somewhere between 9 - 11 feet away.
