I absolutely loved this book. I had bought it for my child to learn and enjoy the mythologies that we try to express when we participate in Historical Reenactments, and I couldn't have asked for a better reference. Not only did they enjoy it, but each family member had taken the time to read it for themselves for their own enjoyment. The art is beautiful and brings the stories to life. I like how the book covers the basic accepted story line of each of the characters in Norse Mythology and inspires further reading to learn the different interpretations that have been made about them. As for comments that say the author's interpretation of the Gods/Goddesses is in a negative light, as much as that argument can be made, the old tellings show that they are flawed characters that are not perfect, and that is not shied away from in this book, so keep that in mind. As a fan of Celtic Mythology, I really hope that Donna Jo Napoli and Christina Balit team up together to make an equivalent Treasury about Celtic Mythology. I'd pre-order that just as I did with this one with great anticipation that is well deserved.
