Someone broke into our car, which is rotten. We had footage of it, which we figured was great. Until we tried to actually get the footage out of this DVR and onto, say, a flash drive or CD that we could hand over to the local constabulary.There's no obvious way to send data to, say, a USB stick you plug in - I'm not certain you can actually do it.You can set up an FTP server to upload to, but it's unclear what's actually uploaded. After setting up an FTP server on a spare machine, I was still unable to actually get any data to upload.The built-in website uses QuickTime, software which is blacklisted by both firefox and chrome due to its well-known security vulnerabilities - no go there.I eventually took the hard drive out, purchased an enclosure so I could connect it via USB to my computer -- and it uses some unknown filesystem to store data. After spending an hour or two in Windows, then another few hours in a linux virtual machine created specifically for this purpose, I was unable to read a single bit of data.So I can watch the video of someone breaking into my car using the DVR, and that's it. Don't waste your money here. I'd avoid anything that says "KAREye" on it.Caveat emptor.

I gave this 3 stars because the remote application sucks a giant enispe. It times out constantly. Also, let's say you choose 1AM on the recording timeline. It will immediately jump an hour ahead to 2am. It does this on every time chosen.The camera quality is is great. The picture quality is good. If this thing had a better app I would give it more stars. This app almost made me send the camera system back.

THE MOUSE BROKE TWO WEEK AFTER I PURCHASE IT. NOW I CANNOT GET MY DVR ON THE RIGHT SETTING , SO I CANT VIEW MY CAMERA. ALL IT'S TELL ME NO CONFIG

Small hard drive, have to delete video every three days

My wife and I have wanted a surveillance system for quite some time and did not want to sign up with a service that required a monthly fee. She brought this system to my attention and I liked that it did not come with a hard drive already because I want to decide what size and speed I want. On that same token it also keeps the price point down making this a VERY affordable set and I am very happy with it so far. The video quality is extremely high definition and the infrared makes the picture quality of a pitch black room excellent. It was very simple to install and set up since each camera offers 60 feet of cable. I love that I can login to the XMEYE app on my phone and monitor my home from anywhere. I also like the fact that you can set up an alarm to notify you of any movement within the camera's range so if I am in another room and someone approaches our front door I will know before they even knock. I would purchase this item again if given the need.I received this item in exchange for my unbiased opinion of it's functionality and overall value. 100% of my statements are true.
