Seducing Destiny (The Fae Chronicles Book 4)

Hose me off! It’s a hot one!
Someone spritz me like Rue McClanahan in Golden Girls! This one is hot! Look, we all know Ryder is a jerk. By book 4, you’ve learned him and his...quarks.But if you’re still reading, you’ve fallen in love with that big jerk face! Spoiler alert: you actually get to see a soft side of Ryder!!!!For those of you who are still personally attacking the author by book 4, stop reading the Far Chronicles. They aren’t for everyone. There are warnings in the beginning of the books. Guys, these are gritty, dirty, in-your-face, and I love it! But if you don’t, don’t read. That simple. Kinda tired of seeing Ms. Hutchins attacked for giving us a safe place to enjoy our fantasies.

Huge Plot holes and just drags
When I started reading this series all I could think of was that is was eerily similar to Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series. The main characters love of nail polish with cute names, a beast within that seems just like Jericho Barnes and Riordan with obsidian eyes and the elite guard seem like the nine. Synthia also shares qualities with Mac and Dani, she kills fae, she is an orphan, and is sassy. Lastly, the music scattered throughout is also a common theme with the Fever series which I think was just immensely better in so many ways.*****Spoiler Alert*****So let's move on to the issues I have with the major plot holes with the series up until this point and not necessarily in this specific book. Ristan has a vision of Cynthia saving the realm. The time frame on this is very murky. Ryder's father the horde king demanded the blood king's daughter as a gift but then Ryder said he did? If his father demanded the blood king's daughter what would be his purpose. The book keeps flip flopping that Ryder demanded Cynthia as a gift because of a vision and that his father did. The Ryder describes that he watched Synthia from when she was with Adrian and killed Adrian so he could have her because of Ristan's vision but then when Synthia dies she sees Ryder's horror of "being attracted to a witch" when he first kisses her on her first assignment? Whaaattttt? Synthia is the light heir then she is the blood heir? Whiplash much? I just feel like the plot is all over the place and nothing ever gets resolved and just drags on. I completely skipped the sex scenes because they were way too long and just plain annoying. Ryder is thousands of years old but a 21 year old grandstanding spoiled brat is his eternal love? I'm not buying it. She was great in the first book and then just went progressively down hill. Too much grandstanding and speech making that everyone just went with because Synthia decreed it? The goddess twist was just terrible. The author should have just have had her die and continue the story with Ryder and her kids. Her husband is the horde king and can kill people by just looking at them but can't kill her brother numerous times? She dies and gives birth and couldn't seem less interested in the care of her children who are so important and just leaves them to her handmaidens or Ristan most of the time? They can get supplies for the babies from the human world but couldn't bring back a stroller or snowsuits to take sick babies to the tree? Lastly, the whole end of the book with the Guild and building a new Guild was extraneous and didn't make much sense about why a new guild was needed and of course run by who else? Of course Synthai because well you know she is sooooo great. Barf. The heroine just got plain annoying whining about how she wanted Ryder to marry her. If you want a edge of your seat series read the Fever series. This one fell flat and I won't be reading the next one.

So Disappointing
I will start this by saying that I loved book one. Books two and three had so much sex that it was terribly distracting from the story that was really quite interesting. It’s frustrating when you are trying to enjoy a quick paced story and there is what felt like endless sex. I enjoy a great sex scene that is well placed, but it was too much. Book four was terrible. It was slow, the pieces about the children were unrealistic ... who has brand new babies and blows them off to go have sex immediately after? ... the children didn’t feel real as there was very little about caring for them. And then there is the frustration of Syn not going to solve the issue with the tree. Danu keeps telling her to go and instead she stalls for page after page.

Y/A content with extreme sex thrown in.
The writing style for these books are very bad. Long winded speeches from Synthia that are more rambles than anything helpful, apparently "he/she growled" is supposed to make them sound more primal or something because it's used every few sentences. The things Synthia says sounds like something from any old teen drama, with the rest of the kingdom always being impressed by her for who knows what.Synthia has been through a lot in these books. She's always reinstating that she's more human than Fae, even when no one asked her, and she comes off as an insecure teenager. II want to like these books so badly. I just hate how these books are so young adult in content with lots of sex thrown in to try and make it more gritty. Flames Of Chaos was so much better then these. If you're looking to be frustrated or you just want to read about sex and nothing else, you've found the right series.

A Gripping Story That Had Me Emotionally Exhausted!
This addictive series has turned Amelia Hutchins from a new-to-me author to one of my favourites and I am so glad to have found her. I love her writing style, the edge-of-your-seat pace she sets for her stories and the gripping plot lines that continually surprise me with their twists and turns. The characters that she has created for The Fae Chronicle – both protagonists and supporting cast alike – are complex, multifaceted beings that exhibit all the personality traits that I depend on to keep me interested. While we’re on the subject of characters, if you’ve read any of my reviews before, you’ll know that I always enjoy a story more when the main female character is intelligent, resilient, resourceful, self-reliant and has plenty of gumption. Synthia (Syn) has all of these ingredients and also has the added cherry of a great sense of humour and a sarkiness that I love.I loved that Seducing Destiny made me feel so many emotions; of course I blubbered like a baby ;-) but the tension in this story also had me holding my breath on the edge of my seat, the fighting got my adrenaline pumping and the sex scenes, wow, they were so hot and very erotic - the tingles were off the chart! What I loved about this book was that there are beautifully tender moments to balance the darkness that just warmed my old romantic heart. While we're on the subject of darkness, I would just like to remind readers that some of the behaviour of the species in this book may cause offence or trigger emotions some readers would prefer to avoid. The Fae Kingdom is an antiquated world of arranged marriages, concubines, sex as food and violent brutality (both in the dungeons and bedrooms).Seducing Destiny is a great read (with no perilous life-or-death cliffhanger – woohoo!!) which is why I rated it 5 stars. I already own the rest of the books in this series and I am keen to see how the remaining story threads are resolved and what will happens next for our heroic Syn.

Not as good as previous 3
I was slightly disappointed with this one it did not flow as well as the others in the series and jumped around too much, almost as though the author has random thoughts she'd stick in to beef it up. The plot throughout the series has been great and lots of twist and revelations, but it loses threads, one minute no one knows about the babies or whatSynthia is but only the select, then she at a gathering and everyone appears to know and really would you be having a deep and meaningful chat with your uncle when your babies lives were in the balance and you should be in your way to try and save them! Loved it when Lucian turns up but I will now have to revisit the other series to clarify his status......I will get the next as I want to find out how synthia 's powers manifest and what happens with the demon and the prince. I hope there isn't too much winking though!

A emotional part to the story
I loved this book although not as much as the previous ones as I find Sun gas lost a bit of her spark but has gained it in a new way in becoming a Mother but this book made me Cry so much in the beginning that I couldn't bare the Loss and then the twist of what happens, it shatters my heart and then rebuilds it. I felt that with this book I was more emotional about everything as I couldn't bare it to watch precious young ones fall ill and how Ristan and others are hurt to the point of breaking. But I am so glad towards the end of how the book progresses and that it ends up working out but I can not wait to read the next to find out how Syn and Ryder will take on the Mages and how it will affect their lives.. I can't wait

3.5 stars but still an addictive story
I dont like writing bad things about a book but I do have to be honest.Where have Ryders balls gone???? He was so alpha and unapologetic in the previous books but in this one he came across as Synthia's tame little lap dog. Also Synthia was a sassy down to earth humorous character, but in this book her dialogue and the way she comes across is so different. This book had wayyyyyyy too many sex scenes. The storyline is great and the author really doesn't need to bulk out the book with fifty shades style sex scenes. So book 4 wasn't as great BUT I am really hooked on this series to see what happens in the end.

Another winner
Do you ever finish a book and find yourself not only hyper at how awesome it was but also almost depressed due to the fact that its over? That's me right now. On one hand I feel like bouncing around in my seat over the awesomeness that is seducing destiny but on the other I'm feeling a bit like the sky is falling cause I will now never be able to read it for the first time again. That's not to say that I won't be reading it again and likely soon cause the entire series is definitely one of my favourites and one that I find myself revisiting really quite often. If you haven't read any of the authors books yet all I can ask is why not??!! Go, right now, and even download the sample of Fighting Destiny (book 1 in the series) cause I promise once you read the sample you will be just as hooked as the rest of us and although there isn't a cure for Fae addiction you won't want one. From my very first encounter with Syn I kinda adored her, she was this amazingly strong character who could kick ass but also had a much more vulnerable side to her and at times I wanted to cry for the things she endured. This book was no different, Syn has grown so much over the series though but without losing too much of what makes her such a fantastic character. I really find myself rooting for her and no matter what situation she is in I find myself hoping for an outcome that favours her. Ryder is another great character that has also grown throughout the series and I'd certainly say it was for the better, although he thankfully hasn't lost anything that makes him all alpha male. As well as Ryder and Syn we saw many recurring characters who also developed as well as many new ones who leave you wanting to know a lot more. It was a fantastic balance though between the old and new and getting a greater insight into some characters was just the icing on the cake. As always Amelia creates a story that draws you in from the very first page, the world she has created is such an amazing place and the imagery placed within the story helps to transport you right in amongst the goings on. It was another book that I had to read in one sitting, I couldn't put it down, I was almost desperate to see how things turned out as every time you think there's going to be a bit of calm something else is thrown at you but in such a way that following along is effortless, the stories are crafted in such a way that you never feel lost or have to go back and just confirm a detail cause it got lost in all the others. I'd managed to avoid all teasers for the book and barely glanced at the blurb, I knew I'd be reading it anyway since I'd devoured all the previous books so I didn't really know what to expect all I knew was that the author had created some fantastic books that only got better as the series progressed and this one wasn't likely to be any different. I was not disappointed. This book more so than any other in the series I think is about the journey, they all face trials and tribulations and theres always the chance that not everyone will make it to the other side unscathed. I found myself seriously invested in what was happening, there was laughter, tears and every emotion in between. This is definitely a hangover book but one that I don't mind, I can see myself just starting the series from the beginning again if I can't settle into anything else. It has been some time since I last read a book that had such an effect on me and I'm extremely grateful to the Amazon gods for the initial recommend. I'm not going into too much detail of the story cause I hate spoilers and if you really want to know what happens you'll read it what I will say is I honestly don't think anyone who reads this book is going to feel disappointed in the least. It may be very early in the year but I can pretty much guarantee that even by the end of the year, this book will still one of the books I read it was just that good. Now I'm just looking forward to the next one that's released and although patience isn't exactly my strong point I will do my very best as I know that no matter the wait the end result will be worth it.
