No, it doesn't but whenever I need to charge it, is easy to take off the case. It came in some sizes so it should fit perfectly if you have a 7th generation iPod. (That's mines)

Q: DOes this case protect ipod from drops?

I can't say it will protect your ipod from all drops, but I've dropped mine twice and have had no problems. Although the case might come apart if the surface is to hard.
