Epic Review for EPIC Bars!
I purchased them as back up for a vacation due to my dietary restrictions. I was looking for a "protein bar" that was BOTH zero added sugar and very low carb. The EPIC Bars interested me based on the positive reviews. All of the ones that I ate (I did share a few, and no one complained about them) were good. Best part is that they didn't spike my blood sugar and were surprisingly filling on their own for only 150 calories. I have been eating the ones left over (from the trip) with salads for lunch and they are wonderful. While I won't eat them every day, $3.00 is a lot to pay for 1.5 ounces, I would consider buying them to have on hand for future trips or emergency use.

Yuck - but in an emergency situation, they'll do
Recently I thought I would try to go more towards a paleo life style, and this product was advertised as paleo, more specifically "paleo friendly" on Epic's site. Here is the thing - some of these flavors are made with sugar or brown sugar like bison cranberry, and that's distinctly not paleo. For some this may not be an issue, but I am also diabetic, so this, to me is incredibly important. Now I understand certain items by design have natural sugar as the case with currants in the lamb flavor, but when its been advertised as paleo, and its not - at least for some of them then it's very disappointing.Unfortunately that's just part of the issue. I had high hopes for these items especially when I smelled the bacon flavor! It was amazing, so much so it actually made me salivate. Sadly, the texture resembled dry sawdust paste, which made it barely edible. I tried several other flavors, but it was all down hill from there. I couldn't force myself, or my other half to endure that texture any more!I wouldn't recommend these to anyone, especially for the price. But, since I can't get a refund, the unopened bars are resting on top of the emergency food pile!

Perfect for LCHF
I used Epuc bars when I first started LCHF, and used them through several months of Keto. When you begin any restrictive diet, it's great to have something you don't have to prep and can just throw in your bag (especially as a mother of a young child). I always keep some in my pantry, and find that they are a great alternative to accidentally eating an entire bag of jerky or to have for a protein boost during a hike!

Novel for their meatiness, but they're still a little sweet.
The bars are more-or-less what I expected: somewhat dense, somewhat salty, compacted meat. A bit like jerky, but less tough. They're a nice alternative to nearly every other "energy" bar out there that's chocolate, peanut butter, cookie dough, etc. and probably fit somewhere between fruit leather and actual dried meat. Most of the flavors do have some amount of (usually) fruit-based sweetness. This balances the flavors well, and none of the combinations are *totally* weird. But if you're a picky eater, maybe double-check the flavors. There are a couple of flavors without a sweet part (e.g., Chicken Sriracha). These are nice, but can be a little spicy - enough for my stomach that I would probably save them after-exercise.

Beware may not get the flavors you expect
I'm a long time fan of Epic bars* & really love the lamb with mint & currents which has been increasingly harder to find in stores or even online through company's website or Amazon* I bought this variety pack entirely motivated by the lamb being shown in the pictures & list of flavors* when I opened the box there was no lamb at all*bummer* & mostly beef *the flavors are interesting ~but not at all the ones I wanted*So BEWARE you might not get the flavors you expect*Furthermore the cost of this variety pack is grossly overpriced when doing the math on unit pricing of cost per bar which is significantly more expensive than the cost of individual bars at the store* buying in bulk should reduce the price not increase it! I thought it was going to be worth it for getting an assortment of flavors but was very disappointed that the majority of flavors that were sent are my least favorite & A LOT of money to only get 4 flavors that I actually like* BOOO!I would have been better off making my own assortment from the store rather than the random choices selected by the seller*

Love love love these bars
Love love love these bars. Perfect for the paleo/ carnivore. I have massive dietary restrictions and these bars are one of the only ones I can actually eat without stomach issues. I take these in the backcountry for climbing hiking skiing you name it, a perfect little protein boost and the ones with cranberries taste especially good to me. sometimes these bars can be a tad "dog food" tasting but a lil fun flavor never hurt nobody!! THANKS EPIC!!

Great meaty snack!
Most of these are very flavorful and I would highly recommend. Some were a bit unusual. I'm glad that I bought the variety pack so I could try multiple varieties. You might not like them if texture is important to you as they can be a bit "slimy" but the taste usually wins through. I consider myself a jerky snob so my standards are high. I really wouldn't put these in the same category though... they are more of a "meat snack" and a great item to pack on a hike for a protein boost.
