Love, love, love this coffee!

This is my go-to brand of ground decaf coffee. Yes, it’s expensive, and opening the vacuum packed bag is a nuisance that I’ve gotten around. Once in a while I cheap out for Ch**k-f-nuts or a store brand but I always come back to Douwe’s.

We had this coffee in a German restaurant in Milwaukee. The flavor is totally amazing. I hate the bitter chicory taste of Starbucks type coffee. This coffee is smooth and mellow. I have bought the decaf and the other caffeinated ones, all delicious. Crazy as it sounds, it tastes even better after it gets cold. It is a bit pricey but a great cup of coffee to me in the morning is really important to me. Refuse to buy any other now and Amazon is the best place to buy.

We had high hopes for this after having tasted two absolutely smooth, rich, perfect cups of D-E decaf at a local restaurant. We learned that the restaurant has a D-E coffee maker that uses D-E liquid concentrate decaf and just adds hot water. That is amazing. Unfortunately, making our own from this lovely ground coffee package was no match. (Yes, we start with RO filtered fresh water, and brewed through the entire package, one batch at a time, altering the strength each time to try to achieve the perfect results.) No luck. It always tasted fine, for sure. But never as rich or smooth as our restaurant cups, nor as good as the Gevalia we buy at Wal-Mart.

This coffee, along with probably most others, tastes best when made in a percolator rather than an automatic drip machine. We tried it some time ago, when we had our drip, and it was unremarkable, and we would have agreed with another reviewer here that it was watery. I think a lot of decent coffees are watery in a drip machine, it's the nature of the beast. We just gave it another shot, and it is SO much better in the percolator. We are quite enamored with it now. I hate my coffee black, and I actually downed a whole cup of it black and never felt the need to add a thing. A true good cup of coffee experience without the jitters.

OMG! All you people who avoid that awful burnt coffee taste.... which has been made so popular these days by a chain (who shall remain nameless)...this is the brand to buy. No wonder you must have flavor shots, sugar and milk to even get it down! A local restaurant here in Sedona, AZ, Cucina Rustica, served this coffee to me after a sumptuous dinner one evening and I practically had to sleep with the waiter to get him to go back in the kitchen and tell me what brand of coffee they use. I buy the caffeinated and decaf and switch off. BOTH taste marvelously mellow and mild. (good kick for morning: light roast means more caffeine, actually, I'm told...) You can sometimes get a bargain on it, but it is worth every single penny either way. I freeze it if I buy it in larger quantities, and then keep it refrigerated as I use it to stay fresh.This is the only coffee I will buy now. (Those sneaky Netherlanders, keeping the good stuff for themselves!)

I live in the US bu had lived in the Netherlands ( where Douwe Egberts comes from) for 9.5yrs. I drank it there and have been ordering it to the US for 25yrs, except before internet I would go back with and empty suitcase just for coffee! best coffee ever!

I purchased this coffee because I have been drinking Douwe Egberts for 15+ years in several different restaurants and it is my favorite coffee. IMO, better than any famous chain coffee. I was expecting the same flavor from the package when I ordered here on Amazon. Unfortunately the coffee I received doesn't taste anything like the restaurant coffee. I tried adjusting amounts of coffee grinds to water, each time I brewed a pot, however, the flavor is altogether different. The cups I've repeatedly had at restaurants, consistently had a sweet & rich flavor. This package that I received from Amazon, has no sweetness and it has a slight bitterness. It doesn't taste different than any coffee from my local grocery store. Very disappointed in this expensive package of coffee!
