Excellent Value for an Outstanding Lens
The Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens is a stellar addition to any photographer's kit, offering exceptional value for its price. This compact and lightweight lens packs a punch with its sharp image quality and beautiful bokeh, making it perfect for portraits, street photography, and even some macro shots. One of the standout features is the fast f/1.8 aperture, which performs brilliantly in low-light conditions and allows for excellent subject isolation. The autofocus is quick and quiet, thanks to the STM motor, which is a significant advantage for both stills and video work. The build quality is impressive for such an affordable lens. While it’s mostly plastic, it feels solid and durable, with a metal mount adding to its robustness. The lens is also incredibly lightweight, making it easy to carry around for extended shooting sessions.Image quality is where this lens truly shines. It delivers sharp, crisp images with great color rendition and contrast. The bokeh is smooth and pleasing, adding a professional touch to your photos. Chromatic aberration and distortion are minimal, which is remarkable at this price point. In conclusion, the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens is an outstanding choice for both amateur and professional photographers. It offers excellent performance, fantastic image quality, and incredible value, making it a must-have for anyone with a Canon RF mount camera.Highly recommended!

Incredible value and great fun to use
This is a fantastic lens. When used with a full frame camera (I use the R6 MkII) it's easily the most versatile and capable prime lens you can get for anywhere near this price range.I think this is a perfect starting point for any newbie, and is also perfect for honing skulls further if you're an enthusiast. It helps you to focus on composition and the use of the aperture to get different effects. It's very light, but still robust enough to easily sit in a bag and get swapped out regularly. The focus mechanism does create a bit of noise, but I've never found it too distracting. It may need consideration if you're using it as a film lense. But build quality is excellent and it's easily the best looking of canon's 50mm lenses of the past. You can't go wrong with it, give it a go!

Works as expected
This RF 50 mm F1.8 lens known as low cost good value lens has worked as expected. High quality product for sharp images. It is very compact and light weight. Good for standard view angle shooting. Offers shallow focus depth and background blur for closer objects. Good for portraits and lower light conditions, however note that it does not have image stabiliser, and shorter exposure times needed for hand held photos. I use this lens with a hood bought separately.

A good lens - but you get what you pay for.
All photographers should have a nifty fifty for those portrait/street photographer needs. They are light, don't take up much room and are very fast with a 1.8 aperture. However, please don't expect professional quality and remember that these are very cheap lenses so the quality is not as sharp as the RF50mm 1.2 USM. But the latter lens is £2k more expensive, so unless you really need the extra quality, then the RF50mm 1.8 STM is an absolute bargain.

Great lens at great price
The best of the best in terms of price/quality ratio. You can't compare it to the L versions but those cost 20 times more.

Tiny, cheap and very surprisingly good picture quality
For the price of this lens, the size you get, the picture quality, the f1.8 and the portability for travel it's easily a 10/10 product.Yeah, it's not gonna be L lens picture quality, but at the same time the 50mm f1.2 costs 20x as this glass... so yeah.

Excellent first lens
I am currently just getting into photography and this was my first proper (non kit) lens for my Canon R100 and I am thoroughly impressed by how easy this lens is to use for a beginner.I definitely need to tweak some settings but the image quality is excellent. I’ve attached a few images I took a few weeks ago as examples of what a beginner can do with this lens. The autofocus wasn’t incredibly quick on it so I wouldn’t really too heavily on it for taking quick shots but I was very impressed.I also think it’s worth noting that the connections and general fit of the lens feels premium, something that I found surprisingly reassuring.
