Good quality materials, and amazingly effective ratchet mechanism. My first one lasted about 2 years of constant use and the belt itself gradually wore out enough to warrant replacing it. The belt can be cut to length and easily reconnected to the buckle. The release mechanism is slightly tricky at first, but I got used to it after a few days. (The first time I put it on, I couldn't get it to release -- trapped in a belt! -- until I found the simple technique.) The best thing about these ratchet buckles is that they are much more finely adjustable than a regular belt with holes every inch or so. The ratchet has latch points about every half inch, so you can let it in or out even just to accommodate thicker clothing. And it can be adjusted very discreetly without anyone noticing that you're fiddling with your belt -- just slip it in or out a bit, even while driving. Another benefit is that there are no strained holes in the belt itself, because there's no prong from the buckle doing all the work. An excellent product; highly recommended.

I really like the whole concept of ratchet belts, but the fake leather one I had up until now started cracking all over, so I wanted to find a quality leather ratchet belt that would last me a good while longer.The pictures and description for this belt say "Genuine leather", and it costs twice as much as the "fake leather" ones, so I thought I'd give it a try.When I got it, I cut off a sliver of the belt to see how it's made, and, as you can see in the pictures, the leather actually only exists as a thin film... For my case this might still be ok - even a thin film of real leather should hold up longer then the fake stuff and resist cracking, so I've decided to keep it and see how long it'll last.On a side note, the buckle release button on the buckle that came with the belt seems to be "tensioned/sprung" by a magnet - I didn't like the tactile feedback as much as the spring based one in my old buckle, so I've decided to use the old buckle instead.I'll update this review if it holds up better or worse than expected.

This is something like my 3rd belt I've bought. Only ever had one issue and that was the last one I bought. The little button that released the belt broke. Otherwise, they have been great. The only reason I've bought this many is that once you cut them, gain some weight, you can't add that length back to the belt.
