Introducing my daughter to Greek mythology with these silly picture books.
I've purchased several of these mini myths books in the hopes to being able to kickstart an interest in Greek mythology for my daughter. She's too young to understand stories yet, but we'll see how well it works out over time. This one has to deal with Athena's ability to tie bows, and another girl trying to pass that ability off as her own. I didn't feel the execution of the story was that great. Had I not read the summary of the myth at the end, I would have missed the moral of the story. I also think they could have done a little better job identifying some of the minor characters (one little girl I'm assuming was Arachne, but only because I was able to infer that from the myth summary).Don't expect too much story from these books. They're mostly pictures with few words, and a myth summary at the very end. It's fun, it's cute, but it's not real deep.

Good Job, Mini-Myths!
This is my favorite one. They all do a good job of teaching without horrifying but my son likes this one in particular, I think, because it's a positive lesson rather a reminder of how dire the consequences of our actions can be. Looking forward to "Privacy, Oedipus!"

Not a good retelling of the myth.
This is supposed to be a kids version of the Athena & Arachne story. I bought it because it depicted Athena as a brown girl and we do our best to purchase books for our daughter where she can feel represented and seen. There had to be a better way to infantilize the story without making it this bland. If they couldn't figure out a more authentic way to tell this myth, surely they could have found another about Athena to tell instead.

In the back of the book is a small entry that gives you a better look at what the story is about
So cute! I am planning on getting the entire set! I can't wait until my baby gets a little bit older and I can start reading them to him. In the back of the book is a small entry that gives you a better look at what the story is about. I love it. :)

Gave this book to "Athena"-- she loves it!
Great to have a book to give to a child named Athena! There aren't too many kids books with an "Athena" as the main character. She LOVED her gift!

Where's the myth?
Would have preferred the story to be more related to the myth.

Great Greeks
This has quickly become my new favorite set. I've always loved Leslie Patricelli's books. This new Greek Mythology series, is a wonderful addition.
