A House Is a House for Me

I love how this changes the way one thinks! and the illustrations are beautiful.

this book is as fun to read aloud as (I hope) it is to be heard by the listener - have purchased multiple copies through the years for all the little ones in the family, and their children, too!

This is a very cute story, but I don’t think it is for children under 6. I bought it for my 3 year old granddaughter. I really think the story is too long for a younger child, and seriously doubt it would hold their attention. I will put it away, and read it to her when she gets older.

This book talks about all the different houses there are... but not in the way you expect. A hill is a house for an ant. A glove is a house for your hand. A peach is a house for a peach pit. I loved how it ended with that the Earth is a house for us all. This was a great addition to our social science curriculum.

I couldn't wait to buy this book for my granddaughters after i bought for my class! Great illustrations and i even learned about animals and other cultures houses!

I loved this book as a kid but did not remember how CLEVER it was.It begins in impeccable, playful meter explaining where different animals live, and slowly grows to expand and generalize the notion of a house. A fantastic way to introduce abstraction to a toddler.This book absolutely slaps.
