Educational Insights Classroom Light Covers for Ceiling Lights

I bought two packs of these and have them spread throughout my classroom covering about half of the lights. At first I didn't notice a huge difference, but as all my classes came in each period, many students commented on how different it was, and how much they liked them. Now, when I move between my room and the hallway or other rooms, I do notice the difference. It is calming and causes less eye strain. I am thinking about adding more to cover the rest of the lights. I might do the white ones so it doesn't get TOO blue. I teach science so I need to ensure adequate lighting for labs. It also helps with glare off of the smartboard. One tiny negative (that doesn't bother me much) is that they are creased from the packaging, and that hasn't seemed to improve in the 6 or so months since I put them up. They also gap between the magnets, but that's not a big deal to me either.

These really make a huge difference in the classroom and they were not that expensive. I have about 20 fluorescent lights in my classroom, and frankly I have been having trouble sleeping for the past couple years. I found out this summer that the lights cause headaches in kids and messes with the sleep cycles. So, I purchased the blue one - 4 in a pack, and then alternated both Abilitations Cozy Shades and the Educational Insights Patterned ones throughout the room and we have softer light. The room feels cozier and they can still see well to do their work. Many teachers in my building are purchasing lamps or they work without lights. I feel students need good lighting for their eyes. I have a large room and would need too many lamps. These filters are great. They are easy to put up, safe, flame retardant and still provide enough working light. I'm sold. I wish it hadn't taken so long to find out about them.

I use these in my elementary special education classroom. I initially got them because the florescent lighting would trigger my migraines and cause a lot of pain during a migraine attack. As a result, I would have the lights in my room off often, but that is not always conducive to learning. These attached very easily to the lighting in my classroom, and have greatly decreased the frequency of migraines that begin while I'm working. They have also helped create a more relaxing classroom environment. The lighting is not as harsh, and definitely feels more "homey" in the classroom. They do give a blue tint, and it did take a bit of getting used to, but my students and I have all adjusted well and prefer the lighting in our classroom to some of the other classrooms that don't have the light covers. I have recommended these light covers to colleagues, and would purchase them again as well.

They are effective at cutting back the glaring white of fluorescent light fixtures. They create a mild environmental blue tint that is obvious, but not overpowering or disorienting The sizing and magnet placement make a tight, flat fit impossible if the installer setup dimensions are slightly out of square. In that scenario, your result will be bowed rather than flush. If the product were an inch or two longer in both dimensions, you could stretch/ slide to resolve that. If you need crisp lines, you’ll probably end up returning them. For a basement kidsWplayroom, I can live with it.

Using a classroom with special needs students - reduced complaints of room being too bright, and reduced complaints of headaches and eyes hurting from students and adults. Appears to have a calming effect on students and adults. Easy to install, but if lights are on a high ceiling will need a ladder. Pleased with the purchase; would recommend them without hesitation.

I purchased these because I work in a roughly 9'x10' office that has two full-sized 2'x4' florescent lights. It is way too overpowering for the small space and I usually work with my lights off. Unfortunately, living in New England it gets too dark many days to be able to work well with just the light from one window. These definitely filter the light and make it much less harsh which allow me to want to work with my lights on. They do result in a slightly bluish tone, but I got used to it very quickly and I don't see it as an issue. I disagree with others who said that it makes it look like you are under water. The blue tone is very slight. They were very easy to put up and many people haven't even noticed that they are there. I have to agree that after putting them up things did feel more calm. Is that because I read reviews that mentioned it or because I actually felt it? I'm not sure, but hey - what's wrong with the placebo effect?

The florescent lights in my classroom where extremely bright. I would get many complaints of headaches from my students, so before purchasing this item I would always only turn on my lights in the back of my classroom. After installing these I have had less complaints! And if you're an educator, you would be interested to know that my some of my students unfavorable behavior has also decreased. My guess is the decrease in stimuli (bright lights) made our classroom feel calmer leading to less stress on the students.

I teach middle school and was looking for anything and everything to create a calmer atmosphere in my classroom. So glad I purchased these light filters! It was a little pricey because have 12 lights in my room, so I had to buy 3 sets, but it was worth every penny. I would not recommend only buying them for half your lights because it just makes the ones not covered stand out even worse. Kiddos are calmer and I definitely feel a difference in my stress level by the end of the day! Only wish there were more magnets because the A/C blows them open a little. I put double-sided tape along the edges to close those gaps. Helps with the glare on the Smart Board too!

With long Covid…light is painful some days. Frequent headaches. This really does the trick. It soothes the light and creates a soft and tranquil ambiance to work in. Students like it.

Love these! Takes the glare away and makes the work day so much more comfortable. I wish I bought these earlier! I have had less headaches and hoping it helps stop migraines from developing too. Super easy to install. Just use the sewn in magnets to stick to the ceiling tile frame and voila!

Put these up around my office and they work great . I wish they add a few more magnets as they can sag in spots but other than that everyone at office really enjoys them
