Petzl Actik

On the market for a new headtorch and I've always been a fan of Petzl units for over a decade. My tikka had packed in so bought what appears to be the new version the Actik. The brightness and span of the beam are much improved and battery life is good. It's able to maintain beam strength for quite a few hours.The Actik range can take a proprietary rechargeable battery however I prefer to use standard AAA batteries as they are used in multiple devices I use while camping.

Having had the head torch for 4 months, it was initially ok tho honestly rather under powered. Since it uses AAA batteries I should have expected that (lithium would have been the way to go). What I didn't expect was that the connections in the battery chamber have become loose..such that it doesn't make a proper connection with the batteries and no longer turns on. Having come to expect so much better from Petzl, this is really poor - so my advice would be to avoid this product.

Good headtorch BUT the headband is uncomfortably tight. My head measures 60cm round where the headtorch sits so beware if you have a similar measurement. I can find no mention of any longer headband offered by Petzl. My solution is to cut the strap and sew in a piece of 25mm black elastic to lengthen the strap. Frankly, its going to look a bit C**P. Disappointed :-( Good headtorch though.

Got this for fishing as everything got usb charges these days my m8s ridge monkey light ran out of power had to charge on the bank head ake especially if you need it when it's charging so I got this am. Happy lights more than enough for on the bank ect so 5 star off me

Great little torch. The red light mode is good when I’m using my telescope, so my eyes aren’t startled. The beam spread and illuminance of the white light on full power is perfect for running at night. The strap feels comfortable and sturdy and holds the body of the torch securely.
